Has the price of these hit a magic threshold or something? They seem to be sprouting up all over the place round me (Leeds).

We'll miss the paper boards when they're all gone, I tell you.

Doesn't answer your question but spotted this story yesterday.

I saw this on the BBC and thought you should see it:

It's possibly something to do with the cost of the unit, but also the fact they don't need someone doing the rounds to change the posters.

The one that was installed on the A3 just after the Robin hood roundabout up the hill, it was so bright it lit up the whole area including the houses opposite. How they got away with it for so long (3-4 weeks) at that brightness was beyond me, there would be no way you could of slept in any of those front bedrooms. Thankfully it has been turned down and is at an acceptable level.

I get that. But they probably require a little more in the way of maintaining than the old style...

I just back from a week in New York, staying on Times Square.

Apparently it costs $50000 per day to advertise on one there!

Funnily enough I haven't seen large format billboards in our town, Blackpool, for years. There used to be a number of locations they'd have them (a couple randomly placed on the side of peoples houses) that have long been removed.

When I win the Euromillions you're going to see my face up there. I've just decided.
