I had to head to a friend's house the other evening, they were expecting me, but in my hurry I forgot to pick my phone up.

Got to the door and knowing they had a small child in bed, wondered how I could get their attention without knocking /shouting, as I believed that would wake the child (I was told afterwards not to worry about the child, he wouldn't wake).

Anyway, I thought it best to throw a very small stone at the window of the upstairs room I knew the friend would be in. They heard it (thought it was a loud fly hitting the window...), looked out and answered the door.

Mission accomplished.

But it got me thinking. Anyone else done the stone - at - window throwing recently?

Ever?

I did it to my girlfriend's house when I was a teenager. Didn't want to disturb the parents at about 10pm. Hit the window nicely, and saw the light go on. I was quite chuffed, until her gruff dad came to the window and told me to "fk off".

I Don't do it anymore.

If you'd used small stone rather than a pebble it would have worked better

Yes, was on a promise but the young lady in question had dozed off on the sofa (it's a reasonable distance to drive to be fair).
A few small stones were thrown and she awoke.

No, there are no pictures of the young lady in question.

I haven't personally - but do have a pretty funny story about it.

I moved in with my now wife and stepdaughter many years back. Step daughter was in her teens at the time and various friends would call over at all times of the day and night.

I'm into astronomy - and this one night, me and my wife went out into the back garden to watch a meteor shower.

We were laid out on sun loungers in the middle of the lawn - tucked up in sleeping bags. The garden was almost totally dark.

About half an hour into our observing session - we heard a noise up the side of the house and a shadowy figure came around the back and started to throw stones up at my step-daughters bedroom window. We recognised him as one of my step daughters friends.

I sat up and in my best telephone voice said "excuse me - can I help you". The poor lad jumped out of his skin. hehe

My wife told him to just go round to the front and knock as my step daughter was in. He muttered something and disappeared hastily round the side of the house again. Apparently he never did knock and we didn't see too much of him after that night.... biggrin

I do indeed. Had cheese on toast with egg on top earlier. But that's for another thread.

Just once and a while ago now. Trouble is, I don't know my own strength and she wasn't best pleased.

You were going to throw your phone at the window? Surely a text a or call would have been better.

No, silly, I would've used my phone to get hold of them, had I had it with me. It was actually quite nice to have forgotten it, and spend some time socialising with them in person.
