Quick background.

One of my good friends lives next door to me (to my left) and is extremely house proud (I like my house but he likes to keep everything super tidy)

Across the road from our houses there is a bungalow and the boundary wall runs along the road from the house next to mine to the house next to his (so in front of 4 houses)

Along this wal there has been for some time a selection of weeds, grass and fauna growing and my friend decided last week to clear it, but only the bit in front of his and my house (his choice, I left him to it)

Tonight, the lady across the road has put up a notice on her wall that says 'thank you so much for the help'

Pic proof:

Now, this is directly opposite my house, not his, therefore I think she thinks I am the one who did it when I'm far too lazy hehe

Back to the point, my wife thinks the woman is being genuinely thankful, I disagree and I think she has written (and coloured in) the sign in a sarcastic nature.

PH thoughts?

Slightly confused here. Your mate cleared the front of his and your house, didn't clear the outside pair houses, and some woman opposite has put a snarky note up? Put one up yourself saying "fk off, wierdo" and be done with it.

Also, out of interest, what fauna, and what did you do with it?

No, and it's dark now. But it goes up about 20ft each side of our houses

That's pretty much it, but it's the woman opposite who's put the sign up.

Everything cleared went to the tip with my friend. And if anything was living there it's legged it now.

I'll check if it's been dug up tomorrow.

His mate cleared the woman opposites wall. But only the sections opposite him and his mates gaff.

Gotcha, makes much more sense now.

I would go on believing that it's a genuine thank you and then get on with my life.

Would need to know more about the woman to be sure, but I'd say if shes in her 40s or younger then the chance of it being passive aggressive is a fair bit higher than if she's older. Completely based on my own neighbours...

Have you spoken to her before said fauna trimming?

Precisely - over exposure to Pistonheads can make you believe that everyone is a snarky arse.

Passive aggressive.

Surely she'd wait until she saw you in the street or come and knocked on your door to thank you rather than hanging a 'thank you' poster on her wall hehe

On PH you would put a smiley face emoji to ensure people realise it's a genuine statement.

Perhaps she should have painted a huge smiley emoji on the sign.

This was my thought process, but yes, maybe PH has jaded my faith in humanity hehe

If she'd knocked on my door and said thank you. I'd have let her know it wasn't me that did it and would have passed the message on (friend is away this week)

Instead I sent him that picture hehe

In that case, have your neighbour that did the work bill her for his time. hehe

Was the lady home when the cutting took place? If not perhaps she doesn't know who to thank so thought she'd put a sign up?

She says hello to my cat, does that count? I don't know if she has facebook, I don't have facebook, I don't even know her name.
