Why is it always someone else's fault
Discussion
Hi folks,
Just a topic that frankly boils my piss, sorry for language.
Just watched news, basically people holidaying around Cuba, Florida etc moaning about the hurricane ruining holiday and blaming Thomas Cook. Well sorry folks but hey its hardly a new thing is it, places like the Cuba etc being hit by tornadoes. Hey texas is right in tornado alley every year!
And then this morning bbc news, just caught back end of story, folk moaning buying retirement homes for say 160,000 but selling them years later for 70,000 and blaming builders etc. Well folks no one forced you to buy that home so grow a pair, accept you made a bad investment etc.... move on.
f
k me I have in past invested in high risk small company shares, some of them went bust, do i whinge and moan, go on telly blaming someone else and want compo...NO, it was MY decision, i took risk, i lost, hey ho.
Why cant the great unwashed (Jeremy Kyle generation) accept they are responsible for their own actions instead of it ALWAYS being someone else's fault and wanting compensation!
Rant over!

I edited the quote. Are retirees part of the Jeremy Kyle generation? Why cant the great unwashed (Jeremy Kyle generation) accept they are responsible for their own actions instead of it ALWAYS being someone else's fault and wanting compensation!
Yes , if they are blaming others for buying somewhere for 160,000 then moaning years later if its only worth 70,000
If my house price crashes in next ten years do i want compo from the housebuilder..NO
Do i want compo from the government...NO
Its just life, market forces etc, call it what you like, grow a pair, accept it, you either overpaid, market crashed, whatever, why should it be someone elses fault so you can get compo!
Your life, your actions, accept it!

Oh its also like some diesel car drivers saying they want compo off government now to get rid off car.
Hello folks, no one forced you to buy a tractor sounding diesel, you bought a diesel to save money, not to give a fig about greenhouse gases, and suddenly you realise you may now pay more for the tractor.
Well folks you bought car or leased it so you take loss like i do on my petrol car.

really? the majority of people know very little about cars and as a consequence bought diesel at was incentivised due to low co2, in a similar way to current ev/phev incentives. it isnt their fault that new information has now emerged.Hello folks, no one forced you to buy a tractor sounding diesel, you bought a diesel to save money, not to give a fig about greenhouse gases, and suddenly you realise you may now pay more for the tractor.

Only the eastern half of Texas is in tornado alley, and Cuba doesn't get them at all.

In what way were the public incentivised? Diesel cars cost more and diesel is more expensive. There wasn't any gov funded rebate as per ev cars.

I don't understand why the value of the apartment has dropped by so much. Any ideas please?
I'm guessing because they usually come with £5k+ service charges and supply exceeds demand. The deal was something like-
Flat retail price - £160K
You pay £110K, leaving the builder owning £50K or an equivalent percentage.
When the time inevitably comes to sell, you (or your executor) discover the flat is only really worth £80K on the open market, but, you still owe the builder £50K. Just like that, you've turned £110K into £30K equity

All the ones local to me have been on a similar pricing structure, used they're only worth about £70K but were all valued at something ridiculous ten years ago when they were new. The pricing wasn't totally out of whack with other properties at the time (if a little on the steep side), but the high service charges and relatively small proportions leave them virtually unsaleable on the used market.
The only bit that the builders are guilty of is grossly over-exaggerating the market value when new.
