This weekend, me and a few of my friends had a brief discussion about what we would do if we won 90 million on the lottery?

Most of my friends said they would live a lavish lifestyle, homes around the world etc, holidays and generally have a comfortable life, which then lead onto family/friends and if you would give them any and how you would. A lot of my friends said they would give their immediate family some money so they would be comfortable and then distant family/friends gifts instead. I also brought up the aspect of security and that with £90 million you would need a team of security for you and your family otherwise you would be put in danger. They said that wasnt the case and that stuff like that only happens in "movies" and that you would be okay as long as you didnt go public with the win.

I said that In order to combat these issues I would give £85 million of it away to various charities so that it was no longer in my possession and I then had 5 million left, I reasoned that people wouldnt be after your money half as much, if you made that gesture of giving away 85 of the 90 and you wouldnt need a team of security as £5 million isnt a huge amount these days. I was then asked if after a think, thats what I would do and I answered that yes I would genuinely give away £85 million, as any more than £5 million would shake my world up too much and it would end up splitting up family/friends and leaving your family in danger.

I was told I'm a mentalist and that I need to be tested.

So PH? Am I mental for wanting to give away 85 million of the 90 if I ever win?

If you gave away £85 million of your £90 million, you would still be at the mercy of the fktards who think you have £4,990,000 too much money to spend, and should give that away, because they won't know or care that you've already given away £85m, just that you have £5m and you could do more with it to help other people etc etc.

1. Invest 85 million
2. Give all profits to charities
3. No need to cry when you've spent the 5 mil, as you still have 85 million to fall back on

People wouldn't believe you and would hound you regardless.

I would do diy sos style projects of I won. Having paid contractors rather than relying on free labour with me picking the tab up for all costs involved including sending whoever I was doing the works for on holiday.

You are not a mentalist, just have a bit of a different outlook.

personally I would be far more likely to use £40m on the family, friends and charity side of things and then the remaining £50m i would use as i saw fit enjoying the rest of my life.

But then i have no desire to be in the papers of press in any form and so whilst i would enjoy my wealth and obviously have a few very nice cars about I'll rapidly be next weeks chip wrapper.

I know a few people who have money well over the £10m mark and none of them have much more security, if any, than you would expect anyone with a nice house and cars to have. They certainly don't have Wesley Snipes to take their children to school.

There is this, give away 89.95m then hehe

Obviously there would always be people asking for handouts but with £5 million I think it would be a happy medium. With 90 million you would be hounded by everyone with £5k not so much, I think £5m is the happy inbetween. hehe

The thing about security, how many people do you actually hear about that get kidnapped for ransoms inside of Europe; there are plenty of wealthy actors, musicians etc who don't have security who just wander about and get on with their lives, they don't get kidnapped.

I think you're mental for thinking a few quid in the bank means you require a 'security team'. Don't go round flashing wodges of cash and I'm sure you'll be fine - unless you constantly tell people how much money you have how would they ever know?

Nothing says 'look at me' more than going everywhere flanked by big security guys in dark suits and sunglasses.

A mate at work has the best solution for this I think.

Win £90 million.
Keep quiet until someone else in the UK wins about £1 million.
Tell everyone you've won 1 million.

You can be a bit generous without people expecting too much.

This is one of the points my friends made, that it never happens but I think with £90m its only a matter of time before someone kidnaps one of your famoly and demands £10m in bitcoin.

Unnecessary I feel.

Just invest in some decent home security and all should be fine.

If you still getting body guards and the like you're just drawing more attention to yourself and more of a reason to be targeted.

I tell you what OP, when you win your £90m call me up and I'll take the (clearly huge) risk of taking £85m of it off your hands.

I'll even come to you to collect the cheque, you know, just in case you get kidnapped on the way, before you've hired your bodyguards lol

You'd have to be absolutely mental to advertise to the public that you had £90m

People who win the lottery and tick the publicity box deserve every beggar they attract
