As per thread title.

Around 1997, we were on holiday in Scarborough, and my eldest son who was around twelve at the time decided he wanted for his birthday a new fancy shaped gaming joystick for his computer. So, we ventured into the electrical department of Boots.

The young female assistant pulled a few different shaped ones down from the top shelf to show us, and my lad was trying them out when another young girl came along from behind the counter, and said to her friend..."What are those?"...

She replied "They are called joysticks"

The girl exclaimed.."Oooooohhh!"

I tried the best I could to keep my face straight but failed miserably......hehe

I had some woman once with her back turned asking for my opinion on something thinking I was her boyfriend until she turned around and realised her boyfriend was elsewhere!!

I've also had on a few occasions people ask me about products or where something is as I'm in a shop on my lunch break wearing a shirt and tie so other customers assume I work there.

Another story was when I went to B&Q in the summer and picked up a large item (around 25kgs) to take to the checkout. due to me not having much hair, my sunglasses managed to slide off the top of my head and land on the floor. Unable to put down what I was carrying I was stuck so was going to have to leave them but luckily some woman came to the rescue and picked them up for me and put them back on my head smile

They're probably not the most exciting of stories - I tend to do most my shopping online!!

I met Jason Plato once. What an arrogant wker.

Saw his grey 911 Turbo parked outside the dry cleaners near where I live and thought "Wow! Its Jason Plato" so I hung around to say hello and meet him. 20 minutes in freezing 2 degree cold and he comes out and I say hello and he shakes my hand. I say that I really like his car reviews and all that to which he just says "yeah yeah nice yeah, bye". Gets into his Porsche and drives off. Can't even spare 10 seconds for a fan.

Its true what they say, don't meet your heroes.

I met david essex coming out of a shop, as I sort of knew his face, (assumed I knew him from work) I said hello and carried on,
a week or two later saw him again, hello again from both of us,

couple of weeks later he spoke first, ( must think he knows me by this time) someone else asked me how I know him, I repied I probably know him from work, to be told who he was.

I see him occasionally now he always nods and speaks, I really must tell him.

he lives next to two people I do know, and was at a housewarming for one, I forgot to go to it.

As a kid, maybe 8 or 9, I was in a toy shop trying to decide what to spend my holiday fiver on. It took a lot of deliberation, and I was holding something and reading the back of the box when it was suddenly snatched from my hands, jammed back on the shelf and I was dragged away by an irate mother.
It wasn’t until I was stood next to 2 other children that one of them pointed out that I was not the third sibling she had been searching for.

She was very apologetic and embarrassed about it, and made a hasty exit as soon as she had rounded up her own child.

I helped run our family retail business for twenty years so I could tell you plenty of stories from the other side of the counter.

Now, the nature of what we used to sell meant that if people picked stuff up not much damage would be done, even if they dropped it. But not so in the shop next door, owned by our good mate Ivan. He sold all sorts of household ware, including glass and ornaments, and I always used to wonder how his nerves stood it when you got one of those types in there who seemed congenitally unable to look at anything without handling it.

One day I was in his shop, swapping jokes, when he said, "look at this one," indicating a bloke working his way round the shelves. "There's only one thing in here he hasn't touched yet, and that's down the front of my trousers. I'm sorry, but you have to do this sometimes to stay sane."

Saying that, he walked over the the guy and said, "excuse me, have you got a cough?"

"Err, no - I haven't got a cough."

"Yes you have, f**k off!"

Walked into a glass door which I assumed had just been cleaned.
This was followed by me and my friends/staff in the shop watching the CCTV of me walking into the glass door. Good times I guess hey

Not to me, but my brother:

My brother and his wife are getting towards the end of a housebuild and need to fit out the bathrooms and so on, so they all (4 kids aged from 8 down to 2) head down to a large fancy supplier on a very posh high street to get some ideas and buy some nice kit. You know the sort of place that has lots of example bathrooms laid out that you can walk around.
They spend quite a while being shown around all the various options by a very keen salesman and fail to notice the growing impatience of their brood, or, indeed, that they may have misplaced one or two of them.
Well, that is until a loud call from the youngest somewhere near the very fancy bathroom set up in the high street window...
" Finished", he called proudly, having just deposited an industrial sized number two in the unplumbed in display toilet (in front of his adoring and sniggering fans outside in the street....).

I was Debenhams waiting for my mate to come to a sodding decision about which shirt would boost his chance of mating that night,
I was sat bored out of my skull, when I was ttted by a clothes rail being pushed by one of the shop assistants..

I went ow, she apologised profusely, my head felt warm and her face slowly changed to a look of horror and she ran off.
My mate came out of the changing rooms took one look at me and announced fk me you look like the stunt double from carrie and burst out laughing.

The assistant came back armed with a first aid kit, who proceeded to bandage me up so I looked like Toad from Mario Kart. Which said mate found even more hilarious.

After all that claret is was fixed with a single stitch, yup just the sodding 1.
