Per the title, just sold my wifes phone (Samsung S6 edge)
Winning bidder is zero feedback, however Paypal shows them as OK to send and eligible for seller protection.

Does this reek of scam that someone would spend £170 on their first eBay purchase, or am I being paranoid...been ripped off an eBay before.

Is there anything additional that I can do to protect myself?

Clearly I have their address...frozen sausages etc

Given phones and high value electrical items attract the most scammers, I would not be sending the phone personally. On something like that I’d be insisting on a minimum level of feedback - I’m pretty sure you can set that up when posting the ad.

Run away!

just say it is broken cancel auction and relist and make sure you only allow bidders with feedback to bid.

Take precautions.
Make a note of the phones imei and serial numbers, take pictures of them and every bit of damage. Take a picture of the phone in the box and the box with the buyers address showing. Use signed for insured postage.

Remember that everyone has to start somewhere on ebay.

Then hope that the buyer doesn't claim it didn't arrive or arrived faulty and requests a return. If you are lucky you might get another Samsung phone that's knackered or simply a box as eBay have a habit of issuing refunds when tracking is confirmed, not once you have verified it is your item that has returned!

You can change your selling preference, to bar less than 10 feedback etc etc from bidding on your stuff..

Definitely don't send it - and is that all they sell for?

Maybe it's time to upgrade from my S4

No, I think you can only ban people with 5 negative feedbacks or something.

Put it on Facebook marketplace and sell it locally, cash on collection.

ebay is, well, "meh" for these kind of transactions.
