This is a great initiative, I will be buying some.

A scary stat from that story - 500million plastic straws a day are used in the US.

We really have a problem if we keep going like this. Marine Pollution is a disgrace, would love to see a real shift in focus from only talking about Global Warming to talking about excess consumption, marine pollution and recycling.

Seems a shame they are not priced at a point that will lead to mass scale adoption, would love to see them at £30. I guess it'll come in time.

Adidas won't be the ones to make them "cheap" but another brand will come along and do that - New Balance or something I expect. The "not seen to be as good as Adidas because of marketing" type brands

Thanks - I fixed the link.

I have mixed views on the price point, I have no idea whether these cost more to make, but the fact you need to get the plastic out of the ocean first, then process it, makes me think it might be comparable price to oil as a base input.

Anyway, the rich can afford a social conscience...as a choice. So makes sense to start there.

I also not they completely replaced plastic bags with paper, something I would love to see adopted by Supermarkets in the UK

Standard ultra boost are only ten quid cheaper though. I guess to introduce something like this into a product line you do so Using one with a a high margin. Plenty of scope for this to trickle down to their cheaper ranges, flip flops etc.

Seems they're a step ahead - flip flops £19.95. Great minds eh?

I agree. The 2 things Humans need to survive. Water and Air and the 2 things we CONSTANTLY pollute.

500Million seems a lot in a country of 300M though. Per day?

If you look at the number of customer McDonald's alone pulls in daily.. it starts to make sense.

Pub Quiz fact of the day. The largest landfill in the world isn't actually on land - it's in the middle of the pacific ocean!

Well no, surely that would be the biggest rubbish dump, but it certainly isn't a landfill site

i didn't think the issue was so much finding something to do with plastic retrieved from the oceans; but more how to retrieve it in the first place. Can't see anything in the article about that.
