Well, just as the title says, we're stuck in a rut of restlessness and rueful rumination, unable to decide whether to go with a pedal car, probably a go-kart type thing eg. https://www.kettler.co.uk/daytona/
or an electric car; some sort of 12v, model as yet not completely decided, but ideally not a faux wheel drive-alike.
The little tyke will get a bike from his grandparents ( enough isn't it really), but we'd been hoping to get him a little car of some sort, though now, it seem some sort of personal austerity infected thoughts have entered our collective consciousness, and we're wavering.
I'd love him to have a little car of some sort, but
1. is it too much for a 3 year old , bicycle and car etc?
2. if we did get a car, then electric or pedal?

Any further infected thoughts most welcome. Do your worst!

Kettler melbourne. My daughter had one from 3 1/2 . But it was too big for prob 9 months.
Needs to be 4 i reckon. My daughter loved it. Wore it out . Needed a new steering rod which kettler supplied. She now has a bigger kettler...

Neither.

I know this is PH and all our young offspring should have a mini Fezza/ Porker/ Viper/ Wotevva,
but seriously, much better to let the grandparents supply the trike or bike, and for the parents to put the money they would otherwise have spent into a decent bank/ building society/ share account and add to it year on year to accrue into a useful tidy sum for when they are responsible enough to put it to good use.

Why blight our young ones' lives by exposing them prematurely to a severe overdose of blatant materialism?

They should learn that there is a big difference between "Want" and "Need".

I'd definitely vote against getting them an electric car.

The Grandparents got my son a little electric Quad Bike at a very early age and it is now a nightmare getting him to pedal anything as he's got lazy and thinks his bike should just go without the effort required. Something I'm now working hard to remedy.

Well our daughter turned 3 a few weeks ago and she wanted a mini version of my car ... so a mini officially licensed TTRS it was

She loves it, it has a stereo and she an drive it herself as well as being remote operated too

She does have a trike and scooter as well but these have rarely been used as she preferred to walk/run everywhere

Many thanks all. sorry about the hideously late reply. Child rearing is a topic that does take up entire fora, and I'd agree that another toy at this stage is not something we wish to introduce.
He absolutely loves his push bike though. It's great seeing this enthusiasm, and I do wonder what would happen in case he decided everything had to simply "go" without physical effort.
The flip side, of course, is I'd love for him to have an electric car...perhaps a remnant of my own longing for something similar when I was a child ( not that I remember them though). Apparently I had a pedal car instead, but have absolutely no recollection of it, thought there is a framed photo of me sitting in it, with a great big grin on my face, aged about 3. It was a yellow car, essentially a convertible smile and lo, behold, look who's had a yellow convertible for the past 10 years?
So, maybe it's me who longs for the ride-on for the little tyke. But, for the time being, he isn't getting one.
