Hi,

This item has resurfaced which has been in the family "button tin" for the last forty years. I didn't know what it was then and nor do I now.

It's 1½" long, is made of chrome plated metal and has a continuous hole through the pin part coming out through the smaller threaded insert allowing liquid or air to pass through.

Google image search has shown it to be everything from a Spitfire to a fat lass in her bra and pants holding some apples so not much use.

I'm sure someone on here could identify the item and put me out of my forty year suspense.

Thanks.

Is it a central heating radiator fitting for microbore pipe? No idea why it doesn't have a valve though.

A car part would seem a possibility but I'm not sure if there was microbore central heating forty years ago and the hole is only about 1mm diameter so would easily block up.

What cars did your family own or drive forty years ago?

Could it be a plastic tube to metal tube connector?

We had a 1969 Beetle and a Triumph Bonneville.

My father was a lorry driver in the 50's & 60's so would have been around various vehicles.

Its called a banjo fitting..
Could be from anything from a car to a plane to a machine tool, even a lawnmower or tractor i’m afraid as they are a fairly common part of many lubrication systems

I bet there's a tiny hole in the side of the part that looks like a socket cap (Allen) screw.

It's a screen washer jet, missing a fibre washer.

Thanks very much,

From your link I've googled lucas washer jet images and a picture of a Trico brand washer jet from a Jaguar XK140 has come up which is identical.

That jogged my memory as when I listed the family vehicles I forgot that before I was born my dad had an old Jag in the 50's (not an XK140)

Just in case I need to give the site credit for the pics it's this.

Thought so. Tried to get some working on a mini once but the pipe was wrong from the washer bottle and never got back to it.
