A bit of back ground - I’m 39, going through my second divorce and have lived by myself for about 18 months. I have 4 kids who I see a lot.

I’ve got my own place, decent job, and have a comfortable amount of cash behind me.

I recently got contacted through social media by a lass who I knew through work. I’ve never worked with her, and I’m going to be vague as I don’t want to expose either of our jobs, but let’s just say she’s an office junior on another site.
We chatted for a while via text and have started seeing each other.

No here’s the thing. I’m a 39 year old fella, average looking, with an average body. I’m not a gym bunny or anything, but am reasonably trim.
My main attractive attribute, so I’m told, is that I’m a really nice, caring bloke who will always put others before me.

She’s 24, and quite frankly stunning. Really pretty, size 8, blond hair, blue eyes, proper stunner.

She’s had a bit of a rough history, her last fella knocked her about and caused her serious amount of grief.

I can’t quite get what she sees in me, and am worried I’m being played, or am just a rebound thing. I mean, what the juddering fk does a gorgeous 24 year old lass want with a twice divorced father of 4 who looks like Joe Average?? I am worried as actually, looks aside, she’s a really decent lass and I can see myself falling for her. But am totally expecting her to bin me when something better comes along. This thought process is holding me back from letting myself get too involved with her. I have historically suffered with a few MH issues so my self confidence isn’t exactly brimming.

Any thoughts?

And yes, worst ‘I’m shagging a 24 year old thread ever’ and also know that this thread is worthless without pictures.

There's the attraction. Be bloody careful. The fact you're asking the question tells deep down you know the answer.

Give her a chance, she is young yes but may have genuine intentions.

The younger girls i know i personally find uninteresting apart from the obvious of course, but if she has a brain and something to say then that's good.

I would see how you go,as long as your focus remains on your kids.

The first answer is spot on. You're over thinking it. Just enjoy it for what it is. It's obviously not gonna last but as long as you know that from the outset then why worry.

Of course if you're looking for a proper relationship then don't entertain her and move on. As for why she wants you now, it's obvious. She's been knocked about by some tosser and now wants a steady Eddie. After a few dates she'll want a bad boy again. Hence just make the most of poking her.

One of my pals has been married to someone 16 years older than him for over 11 years so you never know, just enjoy it.

My prediction: she’s a fruit and nut.
Primary warning sign: she’s been knocked about. Poor me etc.

There's part of the answer. Women are strongly dimorphic and love taller men. When pretty young women date uglier old men, it's often because they are taller and offer protection and security. By some studies, a 6-inch gap between husband and wife is a very good predictor of a long marriage. Perhaps she also has daddy issues and that is playing a part, too.

Taller height + more money + daddy issues = fill yer boots...

Yup, I’ve told her all she needs to know.

I’m quite aware that I’m currently her steady Eddie. I’d drawn that conclusion. I suppose the question is do some people settle for their steady Eddie. And if she does, do I want to be someone who’s partner has ‘settled’ for them?

Some of the best relationships are those where each half brings something different to the table, to make a complete whole.

If she was 45 and not as hot is it less likely that she just wants a free ride?
