No real use for anything other than a Bic ballpoint personally but my ex (a lawyer who had cause for one) had a Montblanc fountain pen which was a thing of beauty.

You can do a lot worse than a BIC Crystal, certainly anything work buys with 'q-connect' on it makes a BIC seem luxury.

But then I also have a Parker 'jotter' in blue thats very nice to use. I have yet to master the point in a fountain pen.

Parker Duofold International fountain pen, medium nib.

One of the last to come out of the UK factory, and it's really enjoyable writing with it everyday.

I keep a stainless steel Zebra pen in my EDC bag for poking out the eyes of a would-be assailant. I also have a Fisher space pen for any unexpected call-ups by NASA (though the OH has commandeered that one for writing on the kitchen calendar).

I'm going to have to stop you there; the best pencil I have ever used is the Rotring 0.5mm propelling pencil.

Pilot G2 for me as well.

I did get a fancy machined pen via kickstarter because it could use the G2 internals, but I found I actually prefer to write with the plastic-bodied rubber-gripped standard one. Bought a couple of boxes and now have spares everywhere.

It is perfectly possible for two individuals to have both use different 'best' pencils.

The free ones from Ikea, btw.

They are very far from 'free'. You have to visit an Ikea to get one, which is far too high a price in my book.

Uni ball Signo 0.7 gel grip.

Some day...all pens will be made this way.

Whilst I cringe at vehicle branded merchandise I was bought this as a birthday present this year, it's actually quite nice to write with however I keep it in the house due to it being quite loud IMO

I have no need to use anything more than a Bic in work but I bought this for £5 from the pen shop a few years ago as it's very light.

Each to their own but I don't think I could ever spend hundreds on a pen! that said it would be a waste as my writing looks like a spider has crawled through ink and scurried across paper.
