Long story short,

Ive been being bullied at work, 2 members of staff and the general manager.

Text messages, tickle tackle to others. (playground)

Over a few months so deleted all contact on book face and ignored the people involved.

Anyway another episode this weekend forced me in to jacking and walking.

Spent the week feeling very down and wondering what to do with my life.

Got a job interview today, but just feel like ive let the family down by jumping.

Just want to vent and man up I suppose but instead I feel like getting back in bed and hiding away.

New year new start.......

The obvious question is 'Why aren't you considering legal action?'

Depending on what really happened, it could be constructive dismissal.

It takes guts to walk, so credit to you for that.

Putting finances aside (I know it's hard), staying put in a situation like that is going to make you more miserable in the long run. Concentrate on the important things like family, at least now knowing you don't have to put up with st from work. You'll probably have a better Christmas for it.

And try not to hide away, get out and give the interview a shot. If you're available straight away that might give you an advantage.

I'll bet your family are really glad you've quit. The situation you were in sounds horrible and no matter what you do or how you try and shelter them it will impact your relationships at home if you're unhappy at work.

Prove them right, reflect, realise you've done absolutely the right thing by removing yourself from that unhappiness. Take that positive attitude home and become yourself again.

They'll be thrilled to have the true 'you' back, even if it means a little financial hardship.

Best of luck with the job search

Manning up is bullst anyway.

It's not the 1950s FFS

If the interview goes well and you are offered the job it will put a different perspective on events.

Good luck

Sounds like you've done the right thing.

You probably spend more waking time at work than you do with your friends and family. Life's too short to work with dheads.

I also walked out of a job 2 years ago (yes, 2 weeks before xmas) - first call I made was to the man who is now my boss. Best boss I've ever had, and a great job. Sometimes things work out just right wink

You definitely haven't ruined Christmas.

You now have the chance to be happier, and if you do well and get the new job - I am guessing it may not start until the new year in which case, you will likely have the opportunity to spend some more time with the people who matter to you.

They will understand.

Sounds like you have done the right thing. Bullying is truly horrible

We think we are very good at hiding our stress but those nearest to us can usually tell what is going on

Enjoy Christmas and good luck with the interview

I quit a job about 6 years ago. It was a dead end job and the boss was a knob. It was the best thing I could have done as I am now earning twice what I was and the job has further prospects.

Ruined Christmas? Pfft! You've got time off now to get all those last minute presents, clean the house, prep the meal etc. You can spend xmas and NY with no worries about going back to the place you hate next year, in the knowledge that things are going to get better in the new year.

As long as you've got a bit of cash to tide you over there's nothing to worry about. Make sure you set yourself a goal every day (even if it's just to get out and about) so you don't stay in bed till lunch time every day. Good luck with the interview and don't feel down about it.

Ruined it? no, you have done the best thing for your family. it might not feel like it but you have.

Being bullied at work is crap and can take a big toll out of you, I have experienced bullying by an individual which I could sort out and bullying at a institutional level which I had no chance of sorting and made me throughly miserable as essentially I was helpless until I summoned up the courage to get out.

Dust yourself down, relax over christmas and hit the job market fresh.

You would have more likely ruined Christmas by staying put, and then fretting about returning to work in January.

Its funny I read a comment in the newspaper this morning that seems relevant. "You can work a crap job for a good boss but you can't work a good job for a crap boss"
