Went out this morning. All very quiet. Everyone expecting carnage have stayed at home.

On yes... My wife which most of this week off decided it was good to go shopping this morning. I stayed at home with our son it's going to be chaos! Also she left home at 11am... Probably late if she wants to park nearby but hey i stopped voicing my advice she knows best. In laws planning to do good shopping tomorrow, retired folk had to leave it the Sunday to do it... Enough said.

Mrs C&C returned from a brief foray to the shops by 10:30 this morning.

Apparently it was already going nuts.

That's it now for us - all supplies sorted. smile

There's an eBay auction closing in a few hours, if that counts?

Went to Asda and Tesco yesterday, bizarrely both were completely nuts in the car park and neither had any trolleys left outside, but once inside the stores they were both very quiet, and both had every till manned so barely any queues. Shelves were pretty empty though so looked like they'd been rampaged through in the morning.

fk that st!

Wife nipped out earlier to local butcher to collect the turkey she ordered plus pick up milk and eggs.

I'm sure the big supermarkets are mental today.

My Mrs went to pick up the last bits of food at 8am.
Aldi opened at 8 and it was rammed from the word go, she picked up the last 4 pinter of skimmed milk and they were quickly running out of things.
She was home by 8.40 and we have no intention of going anywhere near a shop for days

Collected by Xmas dinner yesterday, was not actually that busy. We pre order it in a single hit (Booths) so its just a case of turn up and take 3 boxes back to the car done in 10 minutes. Drove past M&S on the way back and there must have been 50+ cars waiting outside to get in the car park.

Planning on going out later to go to the tip but no chance near a supermarket.

We bake our own bread, got plenty of milk and eggs so we should be ok now till 28th.

Mrs is shopping and having all the "essential" pre-xmas things like getting a woman to paint her fingernails red etc. done.

Bizarrely, I'm about to mow the lawn!

Made an early morning trip by bike to the bank. It wasn't too busy at that time (9.30 am). Had to go to two supermarkets a couple of hours later and they were heaving.

Thankfully back home now and working (actually not that bad an option - better than shopping).

I need to go to Tesco at some point today (thankfully only for a few things), not looking forward to it at all. I’m hoping that the scan as you shop queue will be the shortest and I can take advantage of that...

I've just come back from there, (Chesterfield branch), and it was bedlam. Thankfully I only needed half a dozen things, but I saw plenty of couples walking around with two trolleys packed to the rafters.
I might check with SWMBO what we actually need, if I can get away with popping to the Co-op/McColls instead (walking distance) I certainly will.

I honestly don't understand this. 30 years ago maybe, there'd be a Christmas period of (what) 3 days where the shops would be shut? These days it's shut Christmas day and that's it yet you see people stocking up as if they were unable to buy anything until the 1st week of the new year.

Quite bizarre

Currently away so I've got to do the food shopping tomorrow morning, that and get a few last bits from the shopping centre....

Plan is to get to the supermarket as it opens and go to the SC on the motorbike....hopefully that'll minimise issues!

Strolled into Reading for 9am opening, did all my shopping and was back home by 10am because there was practically no-one there getting in the way.

We did Asda and Tesco yesterday, and went as a family. We were committed to playing the annual game of being a right pain in the arse to everyone else. You know what I mean.... trolley blocking aisles, following someone to intentionally block them. It makes a troublesome event more of an adventure.
We ramped it up too with my kids dropping random items in people’s trolleys! Nasty I know but satisfyingly juvenile!
I am tempted to go tomorrow and walk around Tesco with a trolley with something very non- Christmas in ..... like a bottle of bleach, and really get in peoples way! But it will be Uber chaos so I might stay in, watch James Bond and tuck into my bottle of Monkey Shoulder!

What is there not to understand? From a bloke's perspective - yeah fk it, whatever.

But for your missus and your family it IS a big deal. You want to do it right for your family and relatives. For many families it's the one time they are all together. So you shop and buy everything you think you need (and more). What's wrong with that?

You can bet if something was missed you blokes on here would be bhing to your wives that they forgot this, they forgot that.

If we work to a professional standard, what is wrong with people applying that to their families?
