I suspect I know the answer to this already, but I'll ask anyhow.

I recently sold an item on Ebay. The buyer left positive feedback but a week later requested a return claiming (in a garbled, barely literate way) that the item was broken. It was working fine before it was sent (I checked specifically to avoid this sort of problem) and is very sturdy. I suspect it's simply incorrect software drivers/configuration or even buyer's remorse. The buyer has failed to respond to any messages requesting further details so I've no choice but to accept the return as there's no refuse/dispute option (thanks eBay!)

So, the question: if it turns out the item is working ok can I reclaim the postage costs back? I suspect the answer here is that I'll just have to suck it up frown

Either way, last time I'll be selling on Ebay.

Your guess is correct.
All you can do is report him to e bay who will likely do zilch.
At least you got good feedback off him. Talking of which YOU can't leave him negative you can only leave positive you could try a returned item but no fault found comment but anything unduly negative HE can get removed.

Gumtree man here, people who try scams won't usually do it face to face

Ebay always favours the buyers.

As above, use Gumtree cash on collection only - you still get the time wasters but at least you haven't got the bks of ebay and its free to list.
