Hitting 55 and marrying a 20-something Filipina

If my observations are in any way reliable this is practically the new normal for a certain class of gentleman.
50's+ Gent with a modicum of money marrying young woman is not a new thing. Globalisation just means you now have your choice of what kind of young woman and you don't have to be a millionaire. I lived in the Philippines for a while, the majority of men seeking marriage or just company are actually somewhat successful, middle aged divorcees who have often had messy divorces with western women. The common misconception of the lecherous old man is largely a myth, I've seen more of them over here in the UK.
My advice with Filipinas is, marry her overseas but live in her country. If you cant afford to do that, it'll end in trouble and that is why you DO NOT want to be married in the Phils, there's no divorce for marriages performed there (being a very catholic people).
I don't have any issue with it, both parties know what they're getting into and what the other one wants (unlike a lot of people who marry in their 20's). Opposition is mostly born out of jealousy... or does this belong in the unpopular opinions thread.
3 of my fathers friends have up’d sticks and live in Thailand with their Thai wives
None of them were go-go dancers or prostitutes and all are from the provinces and were met either working in restaurants (or owning it for 1 of them) or working for a dive company.
All have been happily married for many years now and have not been back to the U.K. they all still own their properties here so haven’t relinquished a foothold here. None of their wives wants to come to the U.K. either.
I know the stereotype and have been to Thailand many many times and seen the depths of Pattaya and Soi Cowboy and Patpong first hand but genuinely there are lots of exceptions to the expected sterotypes outcome

This, but one thing I've noticed, most of the Thai wives of 50 somethings are 30 somethings so well and so they are truly looking to settle down at that age in Thailand.None of them were go-go dancers or prostitutes and all are from the provinces and were met either working in restaurants (or owning it for 1 of them) or working for a dive company.

We really have to remember that places like this are _not_ normal places. Besides, they're now packed with Chinese and Russian tourists thanks to the expansion of the middle class in these countries and the GFC/Credit Crunch in the west.I cant remember it but there is a name for a Thai woman in her 30s and not married. They are seen as somewhat of a failure and likely to stay single. Women also stop working their decent jobs at around 35 so a 50 year who can support is a good catch. A man who can support a family is also more desirable than young good looking stud. Asians are very family oriented. Where we see a younger woman as a bit of a catch Asian see someone who can provide a good family home as quite a catch.
Whilst there is a greasy slimy fat bloke with a young skinny asian sterotype about in the hotspots there are loads of decent relationships are asia but its doesnt make a good documentary.
