Prince Harry and Ms Markle's wedding date

Whilst watching Lucy Worsley's programme on Henry VIII's wives yesterday evening on BBC Four, it struck me that Prince Henry and Ms Markle's wedding day and Anne Boleyn's beheading share the same date (19th of May). A slight cock-up? Surely someone in the Royal Household, at Court or on the Privy Council must have spotted that?

Surely you could choose essentially any of the 365 dates in this year and find out that something bad has happened on all of them at some point in the past?Whilst watching Lucy Worsley's programme on Henry VIII's wives yesterday evening on BBC Four, it struck me that Prince Henry and Ms Markle's wedding day and Anne Boleyn's beheading share the same date (19th of May). What difference does something that happened hundreds of years ago, make now?Whilst watching Lucy Worsley's programme on Henry VIII's wives yesterday evening on BBC Four, it struck me that Prince Henry and Ms Markle's wedding day and Anne Boleyn's beheading share the same date (19th of May). They didn't have leap years back then, they are an invention of the 1700s, so technically it's only the same date "on paper".
If we start having blackout dates for royal events on every date that has some historic significance they'll never get anywhere.

I think Kev1974 has hit the nail on the head. They didn't have leap years back then, they are an invention of the 1700s, so technically it's only the same date "on paper".

I don't think it's any kind of cock up in the way the OP is implying.
