Strange surnames
Discussion
Never given names much thought before, but at the doctor's the other day the screen pinged for the next appointment and it was for a Mrs. Collarbone. I then remembered that when I was a kid my mother had a friend called Mrs. Wardrobe. This had my brother and me in stitches whenever it was mentioned.
My adult self doesn't laugh at names ( much ) but I do wonder about the origins of these names. Was Mrs. Collarbone's ancestor a surgeon ?
I also saw a woman on TV the other night whose surname was Marriage, another strange one.
What's the strangest surname you've come across ? and can anyone shed any light on the origins ?

My son was competing in the area schools cross country last Saturday against a Anya Snowball and Bea Christian.
My mum was at school with a Pearl Button.
Not so much odd surnames but what were the parents thinking with their first names?
My other half is a white Anglo Saxon with the surname Basha. Which is quite odd.

Been a few years now, but one of the young flying instructors at my club rejoiced in the surname of Captain.
He left, as they do, to join the airlines, where presumably for a while he was introduced over the PA a First Officer Captain.
Bound to have got his command by now, so he'll be referred to as Captain Captain.
