The other night my neighbour had his ex wife on the doorstep yelling all kinds of stuff.

From what I heard, she had a hospital appointment and was ill (as she kept mentioning) but he wasn't able to have his daughter because he had plans with his new partner (I think a weekend break). No taking sides.

This argument carried on for a full 20 odd minutes at max volume so the whole street could hear.

What type of things have you heard your neighbours yelling about over the years?

I used to hear my former neighbour fapping to porn when he first got cable TV. Detached houses since then.

Had a rough couple next door at my previous house, yelling at each other for about an hour, a few years back.

We hated them and loved that they were unhappy, so sat in the garden listening to it for a while. Very enjoyable.

Bloke that lives over the road from me but we go drinking at the local together.

Anyway his next door neighbours mortgaged up to the hilt to be near her parents, 3 months after moving in she got pregnant, and the boiler packed up.

So many of there arguments that he hears are over money or lack of and the boyfriend always seems to throw it in her face that "she " wanted to live near her parents.

Hes had to keep down grading his car from what I can see, hes gone from a Focus ST to some Skoda thing and now hes in a meriva I think they are called.

They both work odd shifts and weekends are worked too, so I can imagine its a strain on things when your just working to live and get by. (not the 1st in the country to have to)

I guess the BF didn't plan on getting mortgaged up to the hilt and becoming a daddy all in one year and maybe had other plans.

But I guess if your life was straight forward then it would be easy.

I think we ve all had some curveballs thrown in at some stage.

One of the reason I'm glad I don't live a semi anymore, I used to be able to hear next door arguing and they must of been able to hear us. The worse thing I could do mid argument was say to the misses or ex 'keep your voice down the neighbours will hear' , red rag to a bull lol

Long time ago, I once heard the guy in the upstairs apartment trying to defuse his ex-girlfriend through the other side of his flat door, as she attacked it with a hatchet, "here's Johnny" style. She wasn't happy that he had a new, sane girlfriend. When she buggered off and it was safe to come out, I discovered that some of the paint she'd thrown over his Buick had splashed onto my car.

About 10 years ago myself and my Mrs stood peering out of the landing window watching our neighbour have a massive argument with his sister in our cul-de-sac. It culminated in her taking her shoes off and throwing them at him.

I've never been in an argument where I've had the presence of mind to weaponise my footwear

I have arguments coming from either side of where I'm staying at the moment.

One side is a family, a dad living with his wife and 2 daughters and my god does he get walked all over. I was coming out of my house the other week when one of the daughters came storming out shouting 'fk off you fat bald c**t' followed by him squeaking some nonsense about when to come home. There is also regular screaming matches about waffles, who's car is on the drive and a cat. Guys a prat anyway and always tries to gloat about the most council things and blocks my access to the drive without a thought in the world, but has a proper bh fit if I have the car on the drive for 2 minutes to grab something from inside. The type of neighbour to see you washing your car, and he'd ask you to do his but not even in a jokey way and the type of man who blatantly raises a sleeve before he shakes your hand to reveal a cheap fake Rolex.

The other side is a couple who illegally sublet parts of their house (that's another story) but also have the biggest screaming matches I've ever heard, one got so bad I had to call the police as I thought the woman was being battered, but it turns out she was almost battering the bloke. But even after then, I've been kept awake until 3/4am from constant banging at least once a week.

Get me out of London asap!

In my old house my son used to play with a lad over the road who was unbelievably cocky and forward. I disliked this kid but my boy seemed to enjoy playing in the street with him.

I came home one day (luckily my lad was with his mother) and it was obvious something had went down between the cocky kid and an older lad who lived next door to me. By the time I was parking up the father of the cocky lad had come over the road to remonstrate with the father of my next door neighbour, a normally placid and quiet fireman. He didn't stay placid long, lots of shouting over who had the worst kid and a few threats followed by a load of "come on then" gesticulations. The cocky kids father had a few more moments of swearing before storming off back to his house. It didn't come to blows thankfully.

My neighbours are Russian, and have some right old screaming contests at each other - in Russian.... Then I hear the bloke outside having a smoke muttering about "the old bh" in English.

Not arguments but I hear her shagging from time to time. A single fat mum with a 12yo fat daughter, last time I heard her shagging it was 5pm on a friday night.
The sounds she makes are funny. It sounds like she's really trying to polish a stubborn mark out of the coffee table... 'Nnnnnnngggg!!!'

Lived next door to chap who despite being a pillar of the community type used to knock his wife around, I called the police on at least 3 occasions.

He threatened to beat me in when I discovered exactly why he was so angry.

Despite being married with 3 kids he was more than partial to a bit of cottaging with strange men.

When that snippet of news was accidentally disclosed and made known to the village gossips, it must have been the final straw as she divorced him shortly after that.

Been quite lucky in that respect as we've never had a major slanging matches from next door. When we moved into our house the couple next door had 5 kids, all girls, as you can imagine the atmosphere there was strained at times and there a lot of raised voices but ultimately they were a nice couple and the kids were actually quite nice. Tragically her husband died of an aneurysm when she was pregnant with kid number 6 which turned out to be a boy. God knows how she coped after that but we did hear the odd threats from her to her kids that she was going to phone social services or some such.

Luckily she met another chap and they moved to the south coast.

However I was out for my run a few nights back and two cars pulled up together at a house or houses and then the two women in the cars started having a barney one calling the other selfish etc. Part of me wanted to hang around to see how it would end but I thought better of it as it was cold so I kept running.

I used to live next to an inoffensive but not particularly assertive chap. He was living with a woman and her son, and had been for about 15 years. He'd met her when the son was a baby, they'd moved into his house and lived as a family ever since.

But basically he was a meal ticket/accommodation for her, she didn't seem to like or respect him, and ever so often I'd hear her shouting at him. As the son approached mid teens, she announced that she wanted to be married, so he married her.

Then he discovered that during her 'nights out with the girls' she was basically shagging anyone she could, and this had been happening on and off for years. The night he found out was one of her 'nights out with the girls' so he wasn't expecting her back til the next morning.

At the time I knew nothing of this (he told me about it some while later). What I did know was that I'd been woken up by a strange noise that kept repeating outside at about 6am. I looked out of the window and the driveway of their house was covered in a gentle blizzard of her clothing that was raining down from an upstairs window.

Dresses, blouses, underwear, shoes, boots, all her possessions strewn across the drive! There was even an entire drawer where he'd just pulled it out and chucked it out of the upstairs window (I think that was what woke me).

I mentioned earlier that he wasn't a very assertive chap - well an hour or two later he was outside hurriedly collecting it all up and taking it back inside before she got home! laugh

They split up shortly after. He told me that he'd asked her why she'd married him if she was planning to leave anyway. It was in a bid to try and get the house off him, or at least half the value. The stupid woman hadn't realised that as they'd constantly remortgaged it, there was virtually no equity to actually go after, she thought she'd get at least half the value of the house, and preferably the whole house, as a result of having married him before dumping him.

The really sad thing is that her son (clearly a chip off the old block and no doubt poisoned against him by the mother) refused to have anything to do with him after they split, despite the fact that he'd brought this kid up as his own from a baby to almost adulthood.

Our walls used to be paper thin at our old house and could hear the neighbours talking let alone arguing.

So if me and the Mrs had an argument I just used to punch her straight in the face as it was much quieter and the neighbours would never know.

Heard our previous neighbours one night. Lots of shouting, smashing crockery, furniture breaking.
We had a knock on the door from a policeman the next morning.
