What really bugs/annoys you in today's society? Can be anything that is incorrect or unnecessary...

I'll start off with...

UK TV Documentary programs using KMH instead of MPH on UK TV produced for the home market broadcasts...

Likewise, using KMH instead of KNOTS for Flying or Sailing...

KM instead of Miles as a measurement....

Using Dollars instead of Pounds.... (Wheeler Stealers etc)

Get the idea?

Anything goes so over to you......

Car insurance for young drivers.

Could have all manner of choice of cars for my budget of £5500 but being 19 and "only" 2 years NCB means I can only drive a fking ford mondeo. Great.

The "professionally offended".

Young people talking about "respect, innit" when they haven't done anything to merit it.

The dumbed down obsession with "celebrities", who don't actually do anything.

People who start a thread about things that annoy them when there is a perfectly good thread already running about things that annoy people.

No different to when I got my first car. It’s certainly not a new thing.

My premium in 1995 was equivalent to £1466 in todays money - that was TPFT on a 10 year old 1.1L ford fiesta which cost the same to buy as the insurance.

In fact putting the details for my 20 year old self into price comparrison sites for an equivalent car results in lower premiums (in real terms) than I payed back in 1995.

The insurance for my first car (a 15 yr old Civic) was A$350 (£175) a year. Granted this was for Third Party + Fire and Theft. That was with 0 years NCB. Young drivers could build their NCB using a cheap third party policy if they paid cash for their first car.

My first fully comprehensive policy was for an Integra DC5R with 1 year NCB, it was A$1000 (£500) and was an open driver policy (meaning I could lend my car to my sister or let my housemate move it without them being named on the policy).

I wouldn't have so much of an issue with UK insurers... if they provided a remotely decent service.

A is for Acting the way we do to one another

E is for Entitlement; you are not entitled to anything which prevents my entitlement to it being reduced

I is for Intolerance to my intolerance of yours

O is for Opinion that I should have one when my opinion is I don't care

U is Universality of rights without responsibilities

&

S is for being a smart arse....

But mostly it's two things:

1. To be honest everyone's belief that they have anything productive to say and the right to say it and be offended if others disagree - this forum/website being a good example

2. People living in fking bubbles and not wanting to give and take a little bit to be members of a so called society!

  • People who kick up a storm about being offended
  • Those that claim they have a "right to not be offended" (but wish to live in a democracy)
  • Ironically aggressive people with left wing political ideals ("A kinder gentler politics" laugh)
  • Group advocacy ideologies
  • The vocal 3% that make everyday life for normal people irritating
  • The lack of a decent third (centre ground) political choice
There's probably a trend here....

Oh per-lease.... this will be the young people who have to pay an absolute fortune for housing, and in doing so lining the pockets of those who were lucky enough to have been born at the right time.
