I’ve been given a wax jacket from a family member however the sleeves could do with being a few inches longer.

Has anyone managed to get a smililar jacket altered? I would imagine that a piece would be added to the cuff rather then from the shoulder?

I guess, is that rude as it was given to me?

Don't tell them.

OR, dip your arms in the bath for an hour or two until they shrink to size.

Was it new jacket they purchased as a gift for you, or a previously worn on that they are passing on?

If the former, I would politely let them know you appreciate the gesture but that the jacket is short in the sleeve. I would ask if they have a receipt or gift note that they could let you have, so that you could get it exchanged for one in an alternative size.

If the latter, and you really like the jacket - take it to a good tailor and ask what they suggest. Not looking to be a designer here, and not even saying it would look right or work, but could you consider having a fabric based elasticated cuff fitted that either attaches inside the sleeve like this:

or over the end of the cuff life this:

It was passed on to me as he doesn’t use it, I think it looks better that it’s worn in so guess a trip to the tailors

I know that Barbour are quite happy to do alterations, not sure about Belstaff. Have you tried asking them?

Cut the arms off and call it a gillet.
