The weirdest dream I have ever had was last night when I was forced by my mate to do a 74 slide power presentation at a university as a punishment for something

i occasionally have these epic, feature length dreams which are like 100 times the best disaster films. Sometimes alien invasion, floods, volcanoes... really vivid and really emotionally draining. It has happened to me maybe 20 times in my life. I'm usually part of a group trying to escape death, fight back or something like. They go on for what feels like hours.

I very occasionally get a dream where it's like real life and I feel like I am incredibly lucid, maybe even aware it's a dream and can remember it perfectly when i wake up. I've had ones like those where i was dying from a brain tumour, where i had been a battallion commander in a foreign war and another one where i just seemed to be walking through a vast cathedral which was part jungle, part alien planet and part kind of st peter's basilica in the vatican. The shiniest floors, vines hanging from the ceiling, parts made out of natural rock formations, every sound was crystal clear... the most amazing thing i have ever seen. Incredible full-sensory experience and so mad it was just conjured up in my head. There have been others like this too but memories do fade over time.

Weirdest ones for me aren't where I'm an arch villain, super hero, spy, sex god or space pirate but the ones that are hyper-vivid and totally mundane. Having a conversation with someone I know about something mediocre. Sometimes they can be so vivid I've confused myself that we've actually had the conversation.

More of a coincidence but two nights ago I dreamt I left my misses ( I think a lot of her and was distraught in the dream, we are 15 years together now) when I told her in the morning......................she had had a dream where I pushed her away from our relationship and was getting ready to leave her.

I thought ages ago that someone should set up a website to 'register your dream', someone is bound to claim they had the same dream with detailed descriptions, purely for fascination of course.

Probably not the weirdest of all time but last week my dream was I had sold the house and somehow ended up with a stately home in Derbyshire with long gallery and paying visitors.

I was walking down this long oak panelled corridor, avoiding the riff raff looking ay MY paintings, and a door opened and it was my drinking pal, Patrick coming out and as he was the estate manager, we wanted to sort out what to do about the RAC rally special stage that had just come through and messed up the F_ing grass.

Where did that come from?

Three dreams on consecutive nights, fights between good and evil for me, first dream was just 2 or 3 on each side, final night was a full on battle between two armies, hundreds of beings, - they were not people - never been so scared before.

I can't remember the last time I had a dream that WASN'T extremely weird and nonsensical, to the point where I wake up feeling quite disturbed and thinking what the hell was that all about?!

I recall one where I was wandering around a town on a busy shopping day, saw someone with a face I recognised but couldn't remember put a package into a bin, a few minutes later the bin (well, the package) exploded causing carnage, I recall seeing the results in great detail (though I don't remember the detail), recall being interviewed by police and so on and describing this person but couldn't remember who it was. This seemed to go on for ages, eventually I got out and was again wandering through the town, and a brainwave made me remember who the face belonged to. I turned round to go back to the police to tell them, only to see two men throwing a net over my head and wrestling me to the ground, while the person who I'd recognised looked on. And it was Nadia, from Bake-off. I woke up suddenly at that moment.

No idea where it came from, why I had such a dream that I've never had before or since, or why I picked on her to be some kind of criminal mastermind.

I've had a few weird ones in my time, one in particular stands out since a few of my friends found it very creepy.

I was playing football on our local five-a-side style pitch, hiding in the goal because there were some large crows circling and swooping down near us. I saw one of them grab a child walking in the middle of the pitch and attempt to take the child away - For some reason I approach, when I get close the circling crows fly away however the one which is latched on to the child turns to face me. It was a middle-aged and seemingly upper/middle-class looking white woman underneath the enlarged crow-like shell.

The worst ones are the ones that leave you questioning whether you're remembering a dream or a memory.

A few weeks ago I woke up one morning with a vivid recollection of getting up to go for a piss around 3.30am. I remember standing at the toilet and I can hear raised voices (our bathroom is adjacent to next doors bathroom), the voices sound like the girl next door and her boyfriend. Then, very angrily I hear him shout "You fking stabbed me!". And that was the last thing I remember before waking up. I don't remember having a piss, I don't remember going back to bed. I have no idea if this happened or if it was a dream.

I had a dream last night that I had a brand new Alfa Romeo Giula QF, but to afford it I lived back at my parents old house..

My longest, feature length dream, was when I was some kind of English resistance fighter, and the Irish had decided to invade Wiltshire and Dorset, and I was hiding from them and blowing up their stuff. I vividly recall hiding in a ditch whilst their convoy went by. I can't remember if I defeated them or not though, the dream sort of stopped.

I recently had a dream where a good friend of mine had a sex change.

Not a "throw some tits on him and stick him in a dress" type affair, but his 'character' in the dream was being played by a woman. Like when they suddenly change actors on a TV programme. You know its a different person but everyone in the show carries on as usual. It wasn't even really discussed in the dream either, my brain just 'implanted' the back story of him having a sex change.

I was just having a day out with "him" and his girlfriend, and the only reference to it was when I commented on how well his vocal coaching was going, since he sounded exactly like a woman.

That should have the armchair psychologists frothing at the mouth!

In 1992 I had a dream in which I was having sex with Tori Amos in the boot of a VW Passat B2 estate, lying on top of a load of luggage and parked in a side street off a truck stop somewhere Spain, possibly Pamplona. It was around the time of her hit "Crucify" (summer 1992). When she got out of the car she was covered in jizz and I was pretending to onlookers that nothing had happened.

There's an awful lot of late night cheese being eaten on this thread.

One that sticks in my mind was when I dreamt I was in the garden of my last house. There was a gap about 50 cms wide down one side between the house and the fence. Every now and then I would go down there and clear it of weeds and brambles before it all got out of control.

In my dream I was down there doing this when I noticed a little door I had never noticed before. It seemed very odd as I knew the garage was on the other side of the wall and there was certainly no corresponding doorway on the inside. I opened the door, which was rotting and very stiff, but on the inside was a kitchen, abandoned and covered with cobwebs and dust, and Edwardian cupboards and implements everywhere. There was a broken window on the other side and pigeons were coming in and out.

I just couldn't understand how it all fitted in with the layout of my house as I knew it. Then I saw a door on the opposite side, and walking through found myself in a whole series of further rooms, staircases, and landings, all similarly dilapidated, but I could see how they could be cleaned up and turned into a lovely place. I was getting really excited at the potential in a space I didn't even know existed despite having lived in my house for 30 years.

Then I woke up.
