What do you do?
What’s the # for?
Do you include it in a reply?
How woulld a celeb see what you’d written?
Any tips for an oldie?

Its a tool for basically airing your opinions mainly.
What’s the # for?
These allow you to tag your message allowing people to find it. For example If I was tweeting about a certain event for example the olympics tagging it with #olympics2018 would allow anyone searching for that tag to find it
Do you include it in a reply?
if you are just replying to someone then not required unless you want anyone searching for that tag to find it also.
How woulld a celeb see what you’d written?
you would tag them in the message by adding @their username for example "Hey @Teresamay, why do you look like youve been dragged through a prickly bush all the time?"
Any tips for an oldie?
Best tweets are written whilst on the bog, just look at Donald trumps tweeting history smile
Now go offend everyone

Twitter isn't simply a mechanism to attempt to converse with 'celebs'. Although, I'm sure you appreciate that.

I always thought of facebook for having conversations with mates and twitter was just so you could shout your opinions and not care if anyone replied.

Am I doing it wrong?

You have to be up to speed on all celeb lifestyles while being a staunch Leftie and condemning anything that isn't empowering for women. Photos of lunch are optional, but only if you've posted them on Instagram first.
Apart from that, it's a relatively simple platform.

Twitter is what you make of it. If you want to listen to the latest vacuous sleb spout their inane drivel then you can do that, or you can use it to follow specific companies or organisations that interest you, or as I do, you can use it as a kind of modern-day RSS news feed.

I have my main account which is pretty much for receiving only, and I have a second account, from which I tweet occasional updates from my hobby project.

@ denotes a username/account
hashtag denotes a trending topic. You can make this anything you like. For instance I tag all my project tweets with #RV8, so anyone searching for #RV8 (because they are building one, or just interested in the type) will find mine, and any other tweets with the same hashtag.

It takes a little getting used to but I rate it personally, and I'm not a social media person. I don't have FB, Instagram, etc. but find Twitter genuinely useful.

Edited as hashtags screw the PH formatting.

I use it to follow all the local bands I like to see, and find out where they're playing. Plus if I want to know what time their set will start, I tweet them and they reply. It's really useful. They're never going to be Facebook friends, but with Twitter it's almost like having a phone number.
Then the local gig goers tend to follow each other and it forms a little community of people sharing gig ideas.

No need for hashtags anymore, Twitter now searches for strings of words. It took me a few attempts to get into it but I really like it now. Think of it as a news feed rather than social media and, for the time being, just follow a few relevent (to you) accounts. Your local news paper will have an account as will your football team, favourite comedian, etc. A bit macabre but you can search for world events/disasters and see what people on the scene are Tweeting too, just be wary of the fake posts being put up.

I’m glad there is at least one other person in the world who has no fecking idea what it’s all about either.
