A few mates and I were chatting st on the Whatsapp group chat the other night and someone asked this question, more as a means of chatting more st and turning it into a game really. The usual ideas were suggested first, putting the £100 on red/black, a good day at the races or on a couple of football accumulators, lottery tickets, one more sensible suggestion was buying a ladder and some cleaning bits to do a window cleaning round, likewise the idea of some cleaning bits and doing some car ‘detailing’

So gents, I’m passing the game over to you, what are your best ideas of turning £100 into £1000 or any variations on those amounts..

Buy something like this. Start waving it around in the Post Office on pension day.

Wasn’t there a guy who traded a paper clip all the way up to a house through various swaps?

10,800 paper clips for £115 = 10,800 houses. How hard can it be?

Go through upcoming changes in public tech companies with a fine tooth comb, then choose which ones to invest in, take your money out at the right time, then reinvest, rinse and repeat. Get a few hundred quid, buy and sell some cars. At £500 I'd buy and sell some ST170's, easy to clean up, easy to sell for a good amount of profit. Bought mine for £500, with £150 into cleaning it up I got offered £1K for it. I could see that being an easy way of getting to £1K. Or spend the £100 on lotto tickets, best case scenario you just turned £100 into £50M.

Yep - I was told of somebody who’d buy bulk lots of Lego on ebay. Sort and bag it into smaller bags of specific bits - then sell it on. Was making about £30k a year.

I can come up with a lot of great ways of turning £1,000 into £100, if that's any use?

Doing that way is arguably a lot more fun.

This, you can cut it with lower quality cuts and sell Wagyu Burgers. Bit of truffle oil, slice of smocked cheddar - bosh 20quid mate.

I did this a few years ago. You have to be very careful because you do have to move large sums of money around.

Lose concentration and don't do your sums and bosh, lots of your cash gone.

There was a thread about it.

I made a grand in a couple of months but there were more and better offers back then.

There was a thread about it on PH.

So, basically, the way to turn £100 into £1,000 is to use £20,000?

Yeh, that makes it easy in a whole variety of ways.

Buy £100 worth of pyramids* and post them to the person at the top of the list I have given you.
Then delete that name from the top and add your name to the bottom.
Make seven copies of this new list and give one to seven of your friends and tell them to follow these instructions carefully.
Tell them it is extremely bad luck to break the chain. nono

In no time at all, you will receive more pyramids than you ever dreamed of. cloud9

This may also work with cosmetics or household cleaning materials.

HTH.

* I have a plentiful stock of pyramids, cosmetics and cleaning materials that I can sell to you at a discounted price. wink

This is how I started on ebay about 10 years ago - I bought a collection of about 300 DVDs from a mate who was emigrating at £1 per disc, and listed them individually. I started buying other job lots of DVDs from ebay on a separate ID, and selling them individually. I did end up with some unsellable ones, so I put them together as a job lot, and sold them on ebay from a 3rd ID to people doing the same thing that I was doing.

After 18 months or so I'd shifted around 25,000 units, but when I worked out the profitability I was only earning about 50p an hour from it after all costs.

It was a valuable lesson in cash flow and time management and I got out just at the right time as Blu-ray was increasing, and streaming was still in its infancy.
