Any recommendation on work shirts that are worth the price please?

I don't mind paying a little more for something that will last for years but I'm not a fan of paying purely for a brandname.

I want slim fit and button cuffs which seems to immediately reduce many of the options.

For every day work shirts, I find I can't really go wrong with Charles Tyrwhitt shirts.

They're frequently on a 'buy 4 for £100' deal. The sizing is a little bit 'vanity sizing', so if you want slim fit I'd advise checking out the 'extra slim fit' range.

The quality is leagues ahead of the chain store shirts though, and I actually prefer them to some of the more expensive designer brand shirts I've had in the past.

That thread and some later ones is interesting in its comments on CT shirts and quality of late.

Eterna and Olymp look a decent compromise between quality and price but only going from what I can read online as like most things finding anything decent locally is damned near impossible.

It is this. I tend to get them on the 4 for £100 and they are quite nice.

Another vote for CT

I would say that I am "powerfully built", and find that the extra slim fit is a nice fit. I can't stand having excess material billowing from my sides

CT don't understand the word slim. Extra slim is still oversized.
It's better with TM Lewin & Hawes & Curtis.

Not tried Eterna, but Olymp were overpriced and poor quality compared to Tyrwhitt shirts (of a few years ago).

Another vote for TM Lewin. Always gone there for shirts and ties for everyday work since I started work! Usually 4 for £100 when on offer ad a great selection of colours and very comfy!

Back on this. Just plain white slim fit shirts that will last but don't cost a small fortune for brandnames.

Shouldn't be hard should it smile

Another TM Lewin superfitted fan. 4 for £100 and they wash and iron well. I don't often wear a suit these days but back when I was in PAYE employment I would have to daily and would always have 12 - 16 shirts in rotation and then replace 4 at a time every 6 months or so to keep them fresh. Never bothered with pricey ties either as invariably ties would get lost on drunken nights after work or coffee spilled down them. I would spend on suits and shoes, but skimp on shirts and ties.

I'll pop into Birmingham tomorrow.

Most of the "4 for £100" stores are there. Any pointers welcome.
