Who Pays the food bills?
Discussion
I owned my home before my gf moved in two years ago, im in the fortunate situation to be mortgage free and was so before she moved in. We both earn about the same, and I have always paid all the household bills which only seems fair as technically its my house.
She has always paid for the food however last night she comes in and now wants us to now take turns paying for weekly food shop as well is this fair or taking the p**s as I pay for everything else?

My advice, would be to move out and rent the house out. Then either buy something jointly with her, or rent something with her. Keep your house as separate from your relationship as possible.
I'm not up to date on the situation with common-law partners but a friend of mine was in exactly the same position as you. He broke up with his partner after they had both lived together for many years in his house. As she had contributed to the house (and I'm not she if she was paying rent), in terms of up keep, household chores etc. etc. she was awarded a significant sum. And the real sad part was that he had to sell his Jensen Interceptor to pay her off. (not a deliberate attempt to turn this into a car related thread, but the truth).
Or get rid of her, and find one that's grateful for not having to pay rent or a mortgage.

Are you eating an excessive amount of food? Is this her way of getting you to slim down?
If you think you're going to be with her 'forever' then I'd go down the joint account route with all bills, if you don't see it that way just break up. You both have a set amount coming in and you've both got to live in that relationship.

No not at all, and I mostly eat at work in the largely subsidised canteen, too be honest I don't really mind paying all other household bills as if we ever did ever split up, and im not sure im right in thinking this but food is seen as a necessity so can not be taken into the common law wife clause. Doesn't sound like she is a keeper...
