It’s amazing what people will buy
Discussion
So today I sold a old freezer due to an upgrade. There was nothing wrong with it and it sold for £30. I had 25 enquiries since posting it last night. I have now put on some designer tshirts which have attracted loads of attention. I’ve had them 4 years and wore them countless times.

About ten years ago there was a TV programme called "Money for old rope", when Ebay was in it's infancy..
Basically as an experiment, they advertised a piece of rope about a metre long, that had been washed up on a beach, it was tatty, faded and frayed.....someone actually bid and paid £8.00 for it.

I think it should be more amazing that people buy so much new. I'm as guilty as anyone, having just bought a brand new suitcase today which will probably only see a few weeks of use per year.
But gumtree is a wealth of perfectly usable stuff. When I was clearing out my parents house as they downsized I was gutted to be selling (nigh on giving away) so much useless junk in such great condition but it was bought to the last item.
When I was a kid, however, I well remember the glee if my Dad brought something back from the skip or when we got some "new to us" furniture.
Being poor is no fun, but it can make your day to grab a bargain.
I'll never understand why people buy new (gym) weights from the shops, for instance. Exercise equipment is a great one for being practically unused even if a few years old.

If your thread dies a death, he kinda has a point.
If your thread grows on and on, people will read his post as they read the thread and think, what a fud. No work needed by you as it will self complete.

On the rare occasions I've tried selling stuff on Ebay, (household goods and clothes) always brand new, unused, still in packaging and with tags I've had little to no interest and they've ended up going for no more than similar items that are well used.
Buyers of secondhand goods don't seem to differentiate between pristine new/unused items and tatty well used items.

If the thread lasts it will be because people have more interesting tales of baffling sales than a fridge. I'm sure there's plenty of good ones out there.
It will be f
k all to do with the the OP and his 4 T-shirts though.Happy for thread to last, hence this post bumping it.
old house "junk" is valuable to people in their first home with little money or who have had to move unexpectedly.
we got rid of a table, a wardrobe (hangers included), a fridge and a laundry basket to a house where the guy had nothing but a bed and a TV, the joys of social housing!
likewise when we got a new kitchen, I actually ended up fitting our old one in another house down the road as there's was rotten following several years of water leaks (fixed the pipes as well).

I suppose it’s makes sense if you’re renting out property. I would never buy second hand clothes or appliances but I suppose some people are forced too due to their financial state.
Our fridge freezer broke down a few months ago, sods law says this had to happen 1 day after stocking it up. Ordered a new one, but delivery would take a week.So straight onto Facebook, and ebay to buy a £20 cheepy to tide us over, far better option than losing a few hundred quids worth of food.
When I first moved out of home into my first house x years ago, I went into a furniture store expecting to have a sofa by the weekend.... 12 weeks! I bought a £15 inflatable sofa to use, whereas one of my friends in the same boat spent £40 on a secondhand sofa and sold it for £40 when his new one arrived!
