I know, least hyperbolic thread title ever.

For the first time in my entire life, I have been the victim of crime - today, my bike got nicked in broad daylight. Bugger.

Have you ever been a victim of crime? I've had such a lucky life that this is the only run-in I've ever had - and I still feel gutted.

Stabbed (but that was by my mother).

Assaulted about ten times.

Metal dust caps on my tyre valves taken - in twos, so probably by kids for their cycles.

Conned out of two not particularly valuable watches by dodgy repairer, which is the one that really, really niggles.

Yep, loading up a car to return from holiday and had propped my 2 snooker cues in cases against a wall by the open boot of the car. Went up the steps to the house to double check we had everything. Probably less than a minute went back to the car and no snooker cues. I was gutted as one was literally brand new (I hadn't played a single shot with it) and the other I had owned for quite a while and it really suited me. That cost me about £350 when I was 16 (about 5 years ago).

Yes, several times, ranging from having my house deliberately flooded like the Wet Bandits in Home Alone (my living room carpet had literally started floating), as well as theft of my car stereo (twice), an unprovoked assault on a night out, a hit and run down the side of my car (every panel smashed), and my coat nicked from my chair whilst I went to the toilet in a pub.

When bad things happen I can now rate them on a sliding scale of comparison.

The watches are the ones that niggle?! I assume you weren't your mother's biggest fan in the first place?

Pushbike taken right in front of my eyes outside Argos when I was early teens.

Wheels, stereo and anything else not loosely bolted to the car taken from my fiesta 10 years or so ago.

Still resent the thieving druggy bds to this day. Hope they've died of an OD.

Car stolen 13 years ago. Luckily recovered a couple of days later. Felt gutted to see it drive away without me at the wheel.

Adopted mother - wasn't much I could do about it. She's had two spells detained under the Mental Health Act since then. The watches were down to my naivety - and, personally and professionally, I'm supposed to know better.

Punched, bottled and had a knife pulled on me just the usual stuff. Tempting fate but never had anything pinched.

Assaulted - Mistaken identity, overnight in hospital, two black eyes, suspected dislocated jaw, broken nose, a typical work over really. My jaw still clicks some 17 years later!
Burgled - Workshop broken into, all my tools, a petrol scooter (not a ped thing) my wife used to use to get around race paddocks, generator all sorts, even a few months later we were still noticing things missing!

So not the worse, not the best there really compared to the others!

I had my car broken into twice in 1980. The first time, they stole my cantilever toolbox that I'd got with Embassy coupons and the second time, they stole my rally jacket. The bds.

I had my house burgled in 1995. Fortunately, that time, they only stole the wife's stuff.

Burgled 10 year ago this August whilst asleep upstairs, they didn't take anything of great value; X-Box, camera, small electronic items, rifled through the medicine cupboard, took some cash and the thing that annoyed me the most, they also took my cider from the fridge.

Motorbike stolen, car stolen, car broken into, house burgled while on holiday, and possibly a few others I can't think of at the moment. Yes it sucks, and the buggers seem to be getting more brazen as there are fewer and fewer bobbies on the beat, and reporting relatively minor crimes seems to be a waste of time these days.

Gent of a copper edited my story to best explain the blood on the steps. And they did time. biggrin

Lesson learned though eh? I assume you have been using wheel nuts since this episode?

For me it would be the dust caps that would have annoyed me most jester

As a kid I had bikes and skateboards etc stolen.

As an adult I have had a car stolen,a car broken into for the stereo, been burgled a couple of times and been a victim of a home invasion once.

I still miss that skateboard..
