I want to return an item to Amazon so went through the process only to find they now only offer thier own shipping method. It's either "Pass my Parcel" or drop it off at a locker, both of which cost far more than I could post the item for. Has anyone found a way round this so I can just use Hermes instead?

Why are you paying? I always say there is something wrong with the order and the return is free`but yes, their charges are generally high compared to what you can send some for

I got offered a Hermes return for a faulty Amazon product yesterday. It may depend on address. I am out in the middle of nowhere and didn’t fancy dropping it at a pick up point.

How's dropping it off at a locker more expensive? They're everywhere.

I bought a really nice Makita lawnmower off Amazon recently, and there was an axle issue with it. I rang them up and they didn't even want it back, just said "keep it" and refunded me there and then.

(Five minutes work and re-welding a wonky joint and bingo! free mower!)

I'm guessing the OP is in the sticks. Closest one to my dad's is 50 miles/1 hour drive away; they offered him a courier service instead.

Ah, let's retract "everywhere".

OP, got a friend who lives near a locker who could receive post and plonk it into a locker?

I'm not in the sticks, the locker is about 200 yards away. Amazon want to charge £3.99 for return using the locker. There's no alternative methods offered to the two I've listed.

I presume it's because I'm returning it because it's not suitable, not because it's faulty. Oddly enough it looks like it's just developed a fault.

It hasn't developed a fault though, has it?
