Where to buy Finnish Language papers and magazines in London
Discussion
My mum is in Kings, waiting for a heart operation which has been described as exceptionally high risk. She’s been in hospital for weeks and is getting bored just reading the usual papers.
I am coming to London every few days and wondered if anyone knows of any newsagents etc selling Helsingin Sanonat or any other Finnish publications either in central London or the Denmark Hill area. She is a native Finnish speaker so I thought this might keep her occupied for a bit.

Back in the day there was a Finnish culture centre in rotherhithe for Londoners. They may be able to assist.

Readly has a large selection of magazines in digital from for about 8 pounds per month. It seems to have a fairly large Finnish selection.

if a tablet or laptop is allowed
your mum can watch Finnish television for free

some programmes may require a Finnish IP address -- which you can obtain instantly with a VPN app loaded to the tablet or laptop
Thanks. I’ve been going through Marylebone and had no idea there was anything like that there. It looks like they do Helsingin Sanomat print on demand.
I will struggle to get to Rotherhide but thanks for the reminder about the Finnish Church.
I will look into a tablet as I got a free Samsung tablet a couple of months ago. There’s no WiFi so I will need to get a data dongle, right?

the following is one example of choosing dongle, mobile WiFi, etc.https://www.vodafone.co.uk/shop/mobile-broadband/
that is, if your Samsung tablet does not already have 4G capability
may or may not be useful to pool any of Mum's data with your own plan
if the hospital doesn't offer WiFi, then Mum may want to limit her use to surfing and email (ie: streaming hours of video via mobile data might consume the allotted plan too quickly)
if she's up to it, try to let her choose a password to access the tablet (but set this as subordinate to your account, the administrator)

kioskafe.com in Marylebone. If they don't have it in stock, it's on the Print on Demand list.
I finally made it today. It’s near Paddington rather than Marylebone, very hipster with an electronic toilet.
I got a copy of Thursday’s Ilta Sanomat, which was a whopping 180 pages long. She’s been rather pleased with it, especially to have Finnish crosswords!
