Chaps

I’ve always had good posture but in the last few months I’ve noticed I’m slouching. I have a standard office chair for which I have already got a memory foam sciatica cushion (I don’t need that all the time and when not in use I can put it away) but the problem is I’m slouching.

What can I buy as an accessory to my chair to correct my posture? I have seen those mesh chair backs on amazon, are they any good? Any recommendations?

(Mods pls move to appropriate forum if necessary- was sure if this would fall!)

The mesh back things do help to an extent. You can also get a shoulder strap thingy which looks like a holster, it makes you sit up when you slouch. There is also this, though I have never tried it.

My son suffered from a dodgy back & tried using a gym ball for a while but it ended up as being too much of a nuisance.
This might be an alternative

Would be good if you could try one out somehow - maybe amazon & then return if not suitable?

Herman Miller Aeron is the standard reply, very good I’m told, many people swear by them. But not everyone has £900 to spend on an office chair (there are loads around refurbished for £300 / £400 though). I baulked at those figures and went for a £200 Aeron copy (mesh backed)- very comfortable, but the height adjustment piston went 2 months outside the warranty. I guess you get what you pay for.

yes
Herman Miller Aerons are the chair I would recommend as it has stopped my back aching and even contributes to sorting it when I twist and pull it again. However I didn't suggest it as the OP seemed to be after a posture resolution not a full blown chair solution.

IIRC the Aerons come with a 10/12 yr warranty.

Thanks for all the suggestions so far!

Yes I am a solution rather than a chair, because I’m not that high up in the food chain and the company won’t pay for it!

Have you considered a sit/stand desk (if viable) ?

(edit, just noticed the 'company won't pay for it' comment)

I had back problems at one place, so they made some blocks which raised my desk by about 4", and cured the problem.
