Hello,

Long story short I booked car hire for my family for today instead of when we fly in tomorrow, car has been cancelled and now it's $3k for the time we're over rather than $600ish, the lady on the phone said to turn up and check the boards of the rental companies but that seems like suicide, anyone have any experience of being an idiot? Car needs to fit two adults, three kids with booster seats and four sets of luggage....

Why can't you just pick the car up a day late?

Depends on the individual company policy. I fked up my booking a few months ago, booked a car for Thursday to Sunday instead of Friday to Sunday - didn't realise until I got to the desk on the Friday. They had already cancelled my booking as they thought I was a no show and couldn't give me a car for the original price (apparently Thurs-Sun is cheaper than Fri-Sun!!) and I ended up paying almost double what I originally booked the car for (luckily it was only a £40 hire originally, but that meant I had to pay £40 + £80 as I didn't qualify for a refund).
