Accidently returned fake item
Discussion
Hi,
I purchased to sets of items, one via amazon, one via argos.
The amazon item is ALMOST identical to the argos item, but the amazon item is a replica.
After inspecting the 2, I decided the argos item isn't worth paying the extra £7, so returned it.
After getting home, I realised I packaged the amazon item instead of the argos item, so basically returned the wrong item/the replica.
Should I to through the hassle of chasing this up or just leave it? For the sake of £7?

2 - so you sent back the fake one?
3 - have you had your money back?
i'd just leave it, but it depends what it is, so if it was something that can't be returned once "used" then its all to do with your moral compass.
I’d write to Argos, explain you bought the two items, the other being from Amazon, and that you think you have returned the wrong one to them. Ask if they would like you to exchange it. Don’t mention fake.
It will take ages to work through the process and they will either ignore it or say not to bother (as they’ll probably have no way of tracking it). But you can feel like you have a clean conscience.
If you want to save the cost of a stamp, email them. But wait a few days.
PS - mistake my arse.

About 15 years ago I worked for a consumer electronics company that dealt directly with Argos.
All the returned, swapped and faulty items were collected together and every 2-3 months when their secure storage location (skip) was full we had the option to collect it or not.
We tried a couple of time but the quality of what was left really wasn't worth bothering about and this was kit worth up to £300 a piece.
Argos only pay the manufacturer what they sell and stay sold.
Unless they've massively changed their sales model in an era when people are cutting costs as much as possible, for £7 I think you can sleep soundly tonight. They'll probably job it on to a refurb company or just bin it.

Not sure what the item is, but you decided to keep a replica (fake) item for the sake of seven quid?! What a cheap ass!I purchased to sets of items, one via amazon, one via argos.

And yeah right - you sent the wrong on back to Argos. Well played!

It's the full price of the item I returned, the difference between the argos and a amazon ordered was (give/take) £4?.
I wish people on here would stop being skeptical, it was simple (GENUINE) mistake
Unfortunately there are a lot of right tossers on PH these days, I'm sure you can make your own mind up about who they are...I wish people on here would stop being skeptical, it was simple (GENUINE) mistake

There are some hidden gems (badum-tish) in the pallets, but I've seen deep fat fryers returned with solid lard in them....

I worked PT for securicor parcels div nearly 30 years ago while i was at college & the returns stuff on their bulk contracts was epic. They had some big contracts for the likes of Electrolux, Philips, Zanussi, Hitachi etc. You'd get 40ft trailers stacked full of mahoosive TVs & VCR's. There was always a 10% or thereabouts over supply on each order to allow for breakages on & off the wagons. I remember a stack of video camera's (of the size that Delboy would have tried selling....) & a pallet fell off one of the stacker trucks on the off load. The supervisors wiped off the lot, filled in the chits, reported it up the chain. After a couple of weeks they'd finally find time to open the crushed, banged & dented packages & the stuff that wasn't damaged or slightly dented got offloaded for peanuts to staff. There are some hidden gems (badum-tish) in the pallets, but I've seen deep fat fryers returned with solid lard in them....
I made at least 1k in the year i was there selling the gear I was able to buy from the bulk cages.
