Hi, I have a barbour ariel for winter use and a
mesh jacket for summer. I am looking for a jacket for autumn. Preferably one with hood for inevitable rain and decent enough to wear to work (no superdry...). Only looking to use it for a year or two so doesn't need to be too posh... Any suggestions please..

Thanks

Thanks, is it just shell like with mesh inside or had any linings for some warmth? Ta

You don't need a hood, carry a compact umbrella. wink

I too am in need of a jacket for work. Even though our office is fairly casual I could quite well wear a hoodie but that would be frowned upon.

Something relatively light/mild waterproofing and not too hot. Key thing is that iit's comfy. Don't need a hood but if it's there then that's a plus. £40 max.As a londoner I don't need to look like I've come off a farm or fox hunting so that rules our anything barbour.

Just a shell

This one

Doesn’t look that nice in red, mines green

I’d wear it over a suit to a meeting and feel smart enough

Why not visit TK Maxx etc and see what they have in store? You can even try stuff on, can be sure it'll fit you. hehe

Plus a chance to eye up some females.

It would be good to know tastes and budget.

Bit of a difference between Belstaff and RAB for example smile

All of these suggestions are just rain jackets. Isn’t there anything with at least a bit of warmth for Autumn?

Having previously worked in the industry I can confidently tell you that the snowboard industry is on its arse.

So google ‘snowboard jacket’ and grab yourself some warm, dry and practical performance outerwear at a knockdown price!

Everyone's "wear to work" is different. I assume you mean "on your way to work" rather than "at work", which is presumably indoors and climate controlled?

How do you get there? How long does it take? How long are you outside for? Aberdovey or Abu Dhabi?

A good waterproof will help keep you warm simply by blocking the wind. Similarly synthetic insulating jackets will happily shrug off the odd shower.
