Hi

I was thinking of seeing if i could get in contact with anyone my dad may have served with in the early 60s see if i could get any memories or things like that to put together in a book or something.

Anyone know where to start?

thanks

You could try Forces Reunited if it's still going.

Looking for the RAF?

Five star hotels is usually a good starting point.

Seriously, if you know Squadron/base etc, they may well have FB page, my old BAOR unit does have so easy to start catching up with names from there.

There are loads of Facebook groups, some with thousands of members, for loads of units past or present (what are left).

A good place to start would be where he completed his Basic training, then his Trade Training.

Good luck.

Many RAF squadrons have a related Squadron Associations. You might be able to find some stuff out from organisations like that.

There's a facebook page called something like "RAF mates, where are they now". People are always posting on there, so may be worth searching on there for his friends.

Basic training archives might help? RMAS certainly keep old training records and personnel files, I expect Cranwell would as well.
