Trousers for big legs?

I struggle to find trousers to fit.

I have a 32" waist, 31" inside leg and 25" thighs.

I normally end up with waists that are far too big. I have had some trousers altered in the past.

Any suggestions for places to buy chino/work trousers?

If you have a blacks outdoor shop nearby they do some “brasher” hiking trousers in various colours and theres some with a slight stretch to them.

Unbranded to look at plain colours black /dark green etc Great for work and hard wearing, purchased some more the other day £32 ish iirc.

I also have large legs vs waist and find jeans/trouser shopping tiresome.

I got a couple of pairs from Hawes and Curtis as they were pretty good, but I split a pair getting in my car the other week! Going to a tailor tomorrow to see if they can help. Don't want to spend loads though as I have to go on site in them.

Edit - being 6ft 6 also makes it great fun as nothing in the shops is long enough

It is worse now than it was a few years ago, as skinny and ultra skinny is the fashion. Trousers like that probably wouldnt go over my calves.

If you have bigger legs, but are not chubby around the middle, ie your legs are muscular rather than fat, you are rarely catered for.

Depends how much you want to spend.

Marks and Spencer will have something at the lower/mid price point

Funnily enough, I have tried there.

Waists are too big if the legs are right.

If none of their trousers fit then you will be looking at bespoke probably.

UnderArmour trousers were pretty good. I have a pair of combats that fit nice (I’m 34” waist, 30” in thighs) however they discontinued them.

Indeed. I'm surprised by how many men have fairly spindly legs, even larger men.

Combat/cargo pants can be better. Especially US ones and semi-elasticated waists.

I'm looking for chino type trousers and jeans. I'm fed up with having to wear belts like a corset to gather waists in.

I have had suit trousers altered.

Nigel Cabourn does jeans and chinos with a full cut.

Levis Vintage Clothing do repro jeans with full cut as well.

Both a bit more expensive than normal.

Dockers do a good range of proper straight-fit trousers; different weights too.

There's threads in the health section covering this.

But some of the ASOS own brand trousers are a good fit. Yes they are classed as skinny and you'll still need to go up a waist size but oh won't get the excess fabric you can get with going up in size like you normally do

I'm not sure how common a problem this is, but I'm no bodybuilder. I'm just a lean, fairly fit man.

Its the same problem with larger waists as well! If you have powerful legs trousers from cycling etc its difficult to get trousers that fit.

I have this problem - similar sizes to the OP. Not sure id even try anything called athletic fit as that usually means too small. If its not loose fit I pretty much cant get most jeans on. Last time I did ok in M&S so just got a few pairs. Not looking forward to trying to find a fitting pair again.

went to m and s earlier to try some trousers on. the regular fit looked terrible, like something you'd get on your first day of being a bus driver.

the tailored fit were far too tight around the thighs. No middle ground!

Went to an old school mens shop (montague jeffery) and they're getting in some trousers for me as they don't stock the longer length. 3x the price as m and s but after a while price is semi irrelevant, just want some trousers that fit!
