I seem unable to get my head into the right mode for this, and it's been in the back of my mind all day.

X/Y = (X+50)/(Y+100)

Is it possible to calculate X and Y with this information? Something in my brain says "Yes", and most of the rest of it says "I don't fking know".

Just keep the same ratios.
Y=2x
Or x=0.5y

I think

X/Y = (X+50)/(Y+100)
X(Y+100)/Y = (X+50)
X(Y+100)= (X+50)Y
XY+100X= XY+50Y
100X=50Y
2X=Y

So one solution could be X=50 and Y=100

^ What he said above. There's no specific value for X and Y, just an infinite set of pairs of values which are solutions to the equation.

Thanks all. So the answer is that no, you can't deduce X and Y from the information given.

What is Algebra?

Something you take off a mermaid so you can play with her tits.
