Is there one that you let go and yet still think about many months, years later?
What could have been?
Sliding doors and all that.
The thought of him/her still randomly pops into your brain at unexpected times.
Painful, pleasurable?

I only have to look at her name that I carved into my arm to remember her, or the slightly raised patio flags.

YES!

After breaking up with the nutter who lives at my house about a month and half ago.....long story.

I signed up to Bumble.......

The second match after a few days is my "the one that got away" from nearly 10 years ago! First love. An absolutely beautiful, successful & intelligent girl.

Just got her new number and arranged to go for a coffee. Wish me luck!

Yes; someone I used to work with. She was there when I started in 2008, became my boss in 2014 and left the company in 2015. I finally saw her again recently at a mates leaving do and the last we saw of each other was her looking back at me through the crowd of people in the bar as she left. We didn't manage to talk to each other.

I think she is seeing someone and has been for two or three years. I can only hope she is happier with him than she would have been with me. I used to dream about her quite often, but thankfully it's a rare occurrence these days. As happy as I am during those dreams, I always wake up.

One. She was the only honourable woman I've ever been out with. It was clearly never going to work so I cut contact with her but if I was granted the ability to straighten the numerous things out that were hindering it I'd do it like a shot. It's impossible so I rarely think about it.

As for everyone else, I give more thought to my old crisp packets. Once it's done it's well and truly done for me.

Absolutely frown

I didn't "let her go" more pushed here away. I did go through some extremely hard times at a young age whilst with her though frown

I did think so once, but I think there was something going on in my subconscious. I eventually realised, that being ‘couply’ was never my thing, and never would / could be. When I sat down and really thought about it, I realised that I was only conforming to what others wanted to see, and ultimately I can’t function like that. As soon as I woke up and smelled the coffee, I was far happier with life.

Mercury Grand Marquis 4.6 V8.

Beautiful condition and sold for a big profit but so wish I'd kept her.

Yep, many years ago back in college. Never worked up the courage to tell her.

During the summer break in 2003 she was killed in a car crash. She had only just passed her test and somehow lost control and hit a lamp post right on the drivers door. I still think about her whenever I drive past that lamppost and I would never own a Ford fiesta of the same vintage (late 90's with the round headlights and front grill) for the same reason.

Happily married now but she still occasionally pops up in my mind frown

One. But she "let me go" rather than the other way around.

I was 18. She was considerably older than me, but I was in love with her. I'd happily have married her, even though it'd have meant taking on a stepdaughter too. She did all the chasing, and we had a great summer together, while I was on leave from the army awaiting my first posting. But then I got a letter telling me I was booked on a flight to Germany, and she just gently pushed me away and bade me "have a life of your own".

At first I was upset at losing her, but soon I slipped into a relationship with a German girl slightly more my own age, and when that finished I met the real love of my life and married her. I still occasionally think about 'Mandy', but only in the "I hope she's as happy as I am" sort of a way, not because I hanker after having another bite of that particular cherry...

I feel that's what the song really means. That and Elvis's "You Were Always On My Mind". I try not to think about things whenever either of those two songs pop up on the radio or in a random pub or coffee shop radio. biggrin
