I've sold a couple of bits on eBay recently, both times the buyers have said they've sent the money through PayPal but I've not seen anything.

I just called PayPal and eBay to see what's wrong, they've said it's down to the buyer having nothing in their PayPal account and so PayPal has to take it from their bank which takes 5 days?! I've never heard of this before and have sold quite a bit on there. Last thing I want is for the buyer to think I'm scamming them by saying I've had nothing through, but it's a £100+ that I don't want to send off until the money is confirmed.

Anyone heard of this before?

Payment is probably via E-cheque then which does take 5-7 days. if you look on the sold page on "my ebay" next to the item there is normally a icon saying "payment being processed through paypal"

That's what I'd expect to see too, but it still says 'Waiting for payment'. I've emailed the chap and he's happy to wait for it to clear (next Tuesday) which is great, but the first guy and I had a bit of a 'to do' when we met to collect and it ended up with the item being back in my car and relisted, just getting nervous that it'll be an ongoing PITA!

ive had it a few times with grumpy buyers asking where they item is, until i point out how they have paid (e-cheque). Aslong as you dont post until payment has gone through then nothing to worry about, its just a pain waiting

Be careful taking PayPal for anything collected, you will have no tracking to confirm delivery to the buyer so they could just turn around and claim non receipt of the item. It would then be highly unlikely that you could prove an exchange of goods to eBay/PayPal’s satisfaction and the payment would be returned.

DO NOT allow anyone to collect anything when paying by Paypal, might be OK, but the system is open to abuse...."buyer" could just say they never picked it up.... you have no proof......one of the favourite scams.

Paypal won't want to know.

I thought PayPal sent the money to the seller instantly in this case?
