Great grand father irish....can i get irish passport?
Discussion
Passport site says no as she was not an irish citizen at the time of your birth.
ETA: change that. They have a citizenship checker here. http://www.inis.gov.ie/en/INIS/Pages/citizenship-b... I took a guess at your answers and the output said "maybe".
Further edit: I'm going back to my original answer and saying doesn't look like it.
To become an Irish citizen, your great-grandparent's grandchild (ie your parent) who is of Irish descent must have registered in the Foreign Births Register between the years 1956 and 1986, or if you were born after 1986 they registered before you were born. The Foreign Births Register is managed by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

We are unable to go live tnere now for many reasons.
Without access to eu healthcare and services via reciprical international agrrements, or membership of tne eu, we will never be able to live close to our children.
It turns out the last person to be born n ireland in our family came over during tne potatoe famine, so that avenue is out.
No. You’re British and that’s the way it is. Accept the deal you made on brexit. Accept the way England and Wales dragged Northern Ireland and Scotland out of the eu against their will. Accept the fact your country is a useless colony master with no colonies to control. This will never end well for you. The best thing that will happen is that the uk will break up. Northern Ireland can become part of Ireland again (who the hell thinks it’s a good idea to invade and separate a country?) Scotland can become independent. England and west England (Wales) can squander in the mess they made for themselves.

Sorry wasnt meaning to upset/offend.
Hopefully we will end up with a fairly flexible relationship with Europe, theres a lot of families and ex pats out there. I cant imagine that we will blocked from easy access both ways.
Hope it works out for you
