Last night I had the most fked up nightmare.

It started when I was in what I thought was a villa I have been to a couple of time before. However when I looked round it was slightly similar but not the same, also none of the people I was expecting to be there were. It was full of hippies.

Outside there was a huge lawn with loads of people on, having a sort of party. I went outside to see what was going on, suddenly there was a massive explosion, then as people started running all these things appeared from the lawn to kill them too, sprinklers spraying petrol and then flames, each time I changed direction more appeared, the a circle of ground gave way and a massive flame thrower appeared.

I was running towards the end of the garden when I woke up My heart was pounding out of my chest, think if I was wearing a HRM it must have been near max. Took me an hour to get back to sleep!

What are you fking weird dreams or nightmares?

Hippies and flamethrowers? Are you sure it wasn't just a dream rather than a nightmare?

What does driving around in a knackered series llA Land Rover with Theresa May then riding assorted horses count as? Scarcely a dream in my book.

Had a really vivid dream with me shagging Charlie Dimmock once. confused

Normally bad dreans are more of a feeling about something rather than 'visual' like being chased by a load of nutters and trying to get away.

Or one re-occuring one that somebody is buried in the garden and has been dug up by the police. Quite an unpleasent one, that.

I had a weird dream last week where I was doing a slight of hand magic trick and it was amazing but I couldn't work out how I did it ... and that woke me up and I was awake for about 2 hours trying to figure it out.

Last week I had a dream that I was Iron Man but my suit was black and gold instead of red and gold. I ended up being questioned about why I'd done such terrible things to people with my suit, although I can't remember what those terrible things were.

There's a little insight into my psyche.

I have a constant theme that runs through my bad dreams.

My surroundings are usually familiar to me, but somewhere i haven't been since childhood. I always find myself trapped in the area somehow and not being able to get to where i want to go. The buses always just go in a tiny circuit, or i have no money to get on one or i have a broken car or or some other problem.

Any people i come across seem to have an agenda to keep me there. but make me feel unwelcome at the same time, like there is a plan to do me some harm, but not just yet. I just end up going round and round in circles for what seems like hours but is probably only minutes and then wake up completely flustered.

When i used to do lots of wiring for a living I would dream about wiring problems that i just couldn't figure out and wake up exhausted and stressed!

Two of my most memorable, or disturbing, dreams/ nightmares happened in my early childhood around 6 or 7.

The first one involved me walking to my primary school and being aware that I was being followed by a car.
As I turned around the car began to slowly accelerate and as I began to run it sped up an mounted the curb in an attempt to run me over!

It was at this point that I realised that the driver and passengers were rather sinister looking crash test dummies.
I managed to jump out of the way as the car tried to run me over. The car crashed through a fence, hit a ramp, rolled and burst into flames. The dummies got out of the car, but couldn't reach me as they were melting too fast.

Needless to say I was a bit sweaty and confused on waking!

The second dream/ nightmare involved me climbing up a helter skelter.
At the bottom all was fine, but as I climbed higher there were dead bodies in the staircase which were in increasing worse states and of decomposition the higher I got.

At the top I had to climb over skeletons and managed to get my mat on the ramp.
It was at this point that one of the skeletons grabbed my leg!

I fell forward and tumbled forward headfirst down the slide and landed at the bottom in a pile of rotting corpses!

As a kid I used to dream of this vast, empty, white expanse. There was nothing to prove or suggest it was infinite, but somehow I knew. In the middle distance there was a clear plastic jug of a semolina-like substance. My vision would focus massively on this jug, as if I was getting closer but further away at the same time, almost like I was in a tunnel but I wasn’t. The jug would would then slowly lift itself and begin to pour out the substance. Before it was empty, I would wake up.

I always tried to replicate that sense of focus on an object while awake, like there was nothing else in the world but me and that object, somehow connected.

The dream freaked me out because it made me feel something that I could barely describe, but I was always happy when the dream recurred.

Probably means I’m a sex pest or something.

I had an incredibly real feeling dream where I was driving my mums old Renault 19 (which she had from I was about 5 - 7) driving down towards the beach near where I used to live until I was 12 so a long time ago yet all the details were correct. Anyway, I was going really fast and hit a bump and flew through the air and my stomach was in knots like I was really falling! Strange how real it was.

My wee boy had a raging temperature one night and was hallucinating. It was absolutely awful and made the hairs stand up on the back of my neck. He was screaming like someone was really hurting him and was absolutely terrified. Was awful to watch and took him months to lose a general fear of being alone or in the dark after.

I have two recurring night time dramas:

I'm driving a car uphill but it's a real struggle as I have the pedal it like a kid's toy, when I get it going I always spin the bloody thing but stop spinning facing the right way to carry on pedalling.

I dream that the mrs is poking me in the ribs, half wake and angrily accuse her of doing so before falling back asleep. I'm not fully convinced that she's not poking me with her bony little elbows, I'll have to pretend to be sleeping and set a trap to catch her out.

Despite being with my wife for the past 11yrs, married for the last 3, I often have 'vivid' dreams of various ex's, this worries me as I often talk in my sleep too, and my wife is a light sleeper. I'm going to wake up to a slap around the head sooner or later

I dreamed last night that I went into a cake shop to buy cheese muffins, and the baker gave me a Christmas cake, iced, in a box for nothing and said " Merry Christmas". I left without asking for the muffins because I didn't want him to think I was greedy.

Been having dreams about being back at work recently; having unsolvable tasks, tests, meetings, spreadsheets, managers, deadlines etc.

Horrible. frown

Glad when I wake up and realise it's just a dream/nightmare.

I often have really vivid dreams, I love them. Rarely are they terrifying, but when they are, they are awful.

I watched the new Call of Duty trailer before I went to bed a few nights ago, and it must've triggered something in my brain, we were getting invaded by some alien being, holed up in a derelict house in the middle of the night trying to protect my family, not nice.

I also have a recurring dream where I believe I've murdered someone but never told a soul, and then I wake up thinking have I actually murdered someone in real life but buried the secret so deep I don't believe it myself, that one is very unsettling. I think I watch too many crime documentaries.

I have similar, they just go round and round and round. Drives me nuts. I heard the other day that dreams only last 4 minutes and somehow that has stopped me being freaked out when I wake up thinking I've had a continuous dream all night.

These latest dreams sound quite mundane when I read back what theyre about, but the added surrealism and like you say, the perceived length of them, are quite horrible.
