This is an example of why being on Facebook is actually quite useful when trying to look up information on places of business, shops, restaurants, clubs, social groups, activities, meets etc.
If I'm trying to find the opening times of a restaurant or something, often the first thing I do is stick the name of the place into Facebook and up comes all that kind of info in a neat format. No messing around on their website trying to find it.
I'm not what you would call 'active' on Facebook. I rarely post any photos, I don't check-in anywhere, and I have my privacy settings so that no one can tag my name in anything. No one can see any of my information at all without being a friend. I am selective about friends.
But honestly, it is invaluable for business. We get most of our enquires and messages through FB, and it is by far the most effective tool for advertising new products and services.
Many of the car groups I'm involved with mostly only post on facebook groups these days, and some other things such as a pheasant shoot which I help manage during the winter ONLY share photos, information and chat via a facebook group because it's quick, easy and effective.
I'm as much of a critic of FB as anyone, but I can certainly see that the usefulness of it outweighs the negatives.

I don’t think anyone was really critiquing it. If I'm trying to find the opening times of a restaurant or something, often the first thing I do is stick the name of the place into Facebook and up comes all that kind of info in a neat format. No messing around on their website trying to find it.

They have a website so could just post a page with opening hours but feel it is better to post on a 3rd party website that not everyone has or wants access to, then they are in the wrong.
I do not want FB / Twitter or any other form of SM but by that token I am in the wrong?
No you're just missing out.I do not want FB / Twitter or any other form of SM but by that token I am in the wrong?

Just put up a page or details seeing as you put up a xmas and boxing day menu. Could they not have just added opening hours are? rather than a FB link?
I'm not saying it's right or wrong. But business will only do what works best for them.I do not want FB / Twitter or any other form of SM but by that token I am in the wrong?

Facebook is making things very cost effective and easy for business.
If you set up a facebook page as a Restaurant (for example) they even give you handy 'restaurant' template and many options on your page with neatly displayed opening hours, map, photos, even one click to bring up your menus.
I have noticed many new places will now only have a facebook page.
Websites are a pain in the backside in comparison. They cost money and are slow and difficult to update frequently (you need a web designer and you need to pay them). A FB page for your business is free and takes seconds to update or add to by anyone who can operate a smartphone.
I can put up a targeted advert on FB for as little as £5 that actually generates serious enquiries. You can't get that kind of advertising value anywhere else.
Just my thoughts!

What happened to the reply I answered today but forgot to quote?
Why did his / her voice get deleted? I was not offended as I replied. Can you explain why they were silenced?
The language that they, and you, used is completely unnecessary and not required on PistonHeads, as well as being against the rules. Why did his / her voice get deleted? I was not offended as I replied. Can you explain why they were silenced?
