Do you argue a lot with those close to you?
Discussion
Currently being debated on R2 I thought it was a reasonably interesting topic for here too.
You'll possibly get it all off your chest here on N P & E and not need to when you get home
I'm talking about partners and family members really. Do you do it often? Do you have rules of engagement?
The woman on the radio thinks it's ok to throw things as long as you apologise afterwards!

Apart from N,P&E family are pretty much the only people I argue a lot with. The more time I spend with them the more likely an argument is likely to occur. Arguments with my sister could easily get quite vitrolic but as long as I don't see her more then 4 or 5 hours at a time we get along like a house on fire. You'll possibly get it all off your chest here on N P & E and not need to when you get home

As my family lives in Australia, I haven't really fought with them in years.
As George Burns said, "Happiness is having a loving family that lives in another city".
What about going to sleep after a bad argument? Make up before or after? 2 schools of thought on that one.
I don't like arguing with those close to me, but some seem to thrive on it. Rarely and never seriously do I do it with my O/H, we always talk it through and come to an agreement. My Mother though, I contact her bare minimum as she's always got some b
hing and moaning to do (about me).
Anyone throw stuff?

My wife and I have been together almost 19 years (bloody hell, how did that happen?), we have probably had 3 arguments in that time and maybe 5-6 disagreements that didn't get too heated. Last argument we had must have been years ago. We get on very well and are a very good match, she really is my soul mate.
That said however, we don't have kids, which I think can sometimes cause differences of opinion (one parent gives in to the kids wishes, the other doesn't for example) and we don't have money worries which as I understand it is a big cause of arguments among couples.

Wife and I argue about once every 2 or 3 weeks on average, we have had a very tough year with a lot of contributing stresses on the relationship and us as individuals though.
We have become pretty aware of our triggers, and have gotten better at walking away, calming down and discussing things when we have had some time to think on it.
However I would say we are a lot closer and know each other far better than i've known partners that i've hardly argued with, so in the context of a relationship as a whole I wouldn't necessarily say that arguing regularly is a bad thing.
We have gone to sleep on arguments quite a few times, and it has helped act as a buffer to clear the air on a following day.

The wife and I rarely have arguments now but in the early years of our relationship; been together 27 years, we did argue but she had that personality where she would try and instigate an argument "just because", for some odd reason, she is much more chilled now and I learn't not to bite, we still have the odd disagreement though; usually about money!
My sister and dad used to argue a fair bit, mainly to do with his then wife, they had a big falling out, then he died; it was never resolved it and it still bothers her, 4 years later.

Yep.
Me and my old man argue a lot because A: We're so alike, and B: Even at 25, he still tries to baby me, and it pisses me off.
Me and the Mrs argue a bit, but we tend not to for years, and then have 2 or 3 weeks where we do nothing but.
Probably something to do with me. But I know I can be a dick sometimes!

Well I'm almost 65 and Type 2 Diabetic (18 years).
I have become pretty impossible to live with to be totally honest.
We argue an awful lot about the kids, how each of us drives etc and we have just drifted apart over the years.
So yes, we argue an awful lot - and probably mostly my fault....

I once threw a 5 pence piece at wifey and said "here for luck". It hit her square in the tooth and broke it in half! Never thrown anything since (20 years ago). Shes lethal with a tv remote when shes pissed off.
As for arguments, I discovered this wonderful concept for social interaction called "frame", its great for dealing with anyone and makes you pretty much imune to getting upset.

My first wife years ago, threw one of those Le Creuset cast iron frying pans at me, in the bedroom, one day. WTF it was up there is beyond me. Happily, she missed
Don't argue at all with the good lady. I leave all that to her. She hates my ability to remain calm as she ascends. The more she ascends the calmer I am. My boys (8 and 6) think it is highly amusing and I hope are learning more from me than from their mother. My view is that once you lose your temper you lose the argument.
