It’ll take at least a month to get a decent shine on them though.

So what’s your buffing tips/technique?

What are they for? I mean, what will you be wearing them for? Work? Some sort of hobby?

I'm crap at polishing shoes, but my brother did teach me. Also how to iron a shirt properly. Army teaches life skills!

Tacticool boots should never be polished to a high gloss.

If you do then you'll look like a nob ! :DI

I've got a pair of original Magnums knocking about somewhere.

They were never polished but were given a wipe occasionally.

Also, parade gloss cracks. Just use normal shoe polish and buff lightly.

"Tactical Performance Matters" (it says on the box).

Are PH planning to invade a small country ? Storm an embassy ? Bust a terror cell ?

Is this part of the uniform for selected members ?

Or is it just a case of all the gear no idea or someone with a boot/ polishing fetish ?

Time will tell ...

Odd thread biggrin

rofl cheers guys - odd thread? yep i suppose. Fetish? well as a kid it was important that your Doc Martins and Brogues were shiny.

Hot spoon and yellow dusters at the ready. Also seen a trick on Youtube about using a lighter after polishing which seems fun.

Behave.

Where's the sense of achievement in that ?

These are tactical boots and the shine must be achieved by much sweat and blisters.

You got it spot on.... and yes i want a "parade shine"

They're extremely comfortable work boots - this'll be my third pair of SWATS in 7 years. nearly got a good shine on my current pair but gave up months ago. This pair will be seeing "lighter duties" so should be easier to maintain.

To shine - Kiwi parade gloss. Don't use your yellow duster at first - just use a finger. Put some polish on your finger and rub it in until it goes hard. This is your base coat - like paint priming. Then later use the duster and water. Wind the duster tightly around two fingers. Dip it in the water and a tiny bit of polish and rub in small circles. Then dip in the water (no polish) and keep rubbing and dipping in water until there is no friction and you get a mirror surface. Then put another tiny bit of polish on, do another coat, then another, then another. For the true parade ground look get some horrible moustached corporal to throw the boots out of your bedroom window so all the polish cracks off, retrieve them, and do it all again.

They look like special shoes.

My daughter did a stint in Orange County Sheriffs Dept SWAT team - she didn't wear boots that looked anything like those...
