A shame for the employees
"The airline has faced several difficulties, including recent spikes in fuel and carbon costs, the latter arising from the EU’s recent decision to exclude UK airlines from full participation in the Emissions Trading Scheme.
I see ‘climate change’ has a hand in more victims

I guess German airline Germania going bust last week was also due to Brexit, or Private air 2 weeks ago or even Air Berlin recently
Just right clr. Utter bullsh#t dragging Brexit in, airlines come and go as does any business that’s not running well. I just wish these snowflakes had the balls to get off their high horses and try and do something other than pontificate..

Great, an opportunity for the astute then
By that I assume you mean the already wealthy who are able to use spare capital to purchase distressed assets at a knock down price? Edited by Joscal on Saturday 16th February 19:38
Meanwhile the ordinary man in the street (especially those in places where a majority voted to leave the EU) are left high and dry by the economic fallout.
It's good to see that the conservative I'm all right jack attitude still is alive and well. People have been conned by the wealthy and powerful into believing they'll be better off.
Those who lose their jobs in a recession aren't going to be in a position to be astute. But that's ok as long as few rich people can get a bit richer.

No you’re completely wrong! I’m not rich nor am I a conservative, I’m actually Northern Irish and run a small company. Companies come and go for various reasons and whilst awful for the individuals involved it’s real life..winners and losers. Unfortunately that’s how it is. It’s not fair but nor is life.. Then why on earth do you think a recession would be a good thing?Joscal said:

Complete oversupply, the small/medium & large carriers have all been slicing each other to the bottom.
Minnows seeking to gain market share with rapid expansion, now finding the banks starting to get cold toes with any more short term loans. Then they hit a spiral. Down.
Monarch, Primera, Air Berlin...room for a couple more to fold for the 12-18mo predictions to come true.
Stateside, we’ve seen 11 majors fold into 4 in last decade.
When you wander into a Club World cabin going to Houston and even 1st is full, then things aren’t priced right and majors will start to hedge what’s more valuable: their regional, short haul offerings, or their slots they don’t want to lose at their hubs.
In any correction, peoples jobs and livelihoods always get punished, which is never nice. But the course correction was called way back.
