I have tried numerous couriers, they refuse to let me ship a basic steering wheel without airbag on it.

They say strictly prohibited. Why the hell is this?

I am confused as hell.

DPD, UPS...ETC..ETC all via shipping agents are prohibited.

Royal mail I didn't check, but their prices over £16 and i was hoping to use £6< as i always done and ive given free shipping

Just package it up and declare it as a 'steering component'. Don't be any more specific about it as there is no risk anyway.

I used to work in courier for DHL and sent many a steering wheel to places in the UK and overseas, unless something has changed in the last 4 years massively then cant see a problem without an airbag.

Just send it. If they ask what it is when you go to post it, use your imagination.

"A piece for a tool", "A bundle of wire", "A metal ring that goes on a turning device"

Be vague, they don't actually care as long as it's not dangerous. Especially for UK shipping.

You could probably say it's a race car steering wheel without air bag and that'll be fine too.

Thanks people, my luck is it goes through a scanner and they pick it up as a wheel.

I specifically spoke to 2 shipping agents via live chat and they both said a steering wheel is prohibited even without a airbag.

Weird bunch.

Because airbags. They don’t want the risk that people will lie, not understand the question as to whether it has one or not or just genuinely think it hasn’t got one when it has.

For a UK delivery that is extremely unlikely.

I posted one via Royal Mail a few weeks ago with no issues. I wrapped it with bubble wrap and brown paper - still even looked like a steering wheel biggrin

I just put mine in a box and used royal mail - no airbag, but didn't even consider there to be an issue.

Got there fine.

I have had two refurbished in the last 24months. And one of those was sent directly to the trimmer by the ebay seller complete with an airbag before being re-trimmed and sent to on me.

I shipped my steering wheel last year sans airbag via Royal Mail. Cost about £8 IIRC. No problems whatsoever.

Weird issue, how does anyone ever buy one off ebay or get them refurbed with royal steering wheels as an example how does a dealer selling upgraded ones post them?

Very odd, looks like Royal mail is the route to take.

Can’t see the issue, without an airbag it’s basically metal and leather. Sent multiple by myhermes with zero issues.

Wouldn't advise this if it *does* have an airbag though. It will probably go off when they throw it over the recipient's gate.
