I'm trying to sell a watch on Gumtree but haven't had any local buyers, only ones who want me to post it to them. Obviously I want the payment to be secure & I know normal Paypal can be reversed, but what about Paypal Friends & Family? Can they still reverse the payment if they claim unauthorised access to the account?

Is there any other secure method of payment I can use?

Yes, bank transfer (faster payments).

Paypal is just asking for trouble. There is a reason scammers use it.

Bank transfer is the way to go. It takes a bit of faith by the buyer to trust you but it is possible. I've sold a pedalboard and a minidisc player and posted them off once I'd recieved payment. I took plenty of pics of items, packaging etc and kept the buyers updated as to progress.

In your case, cash on collection only or bank transfer. No PayPal, no Western Union, no escrow, nothing else unless you are prepared to lose the watch and the money.

Think about it. There are watches galore on most sites and scammers will target the occasional seller with little experience. I am a scammer. I have a hijacked/bought/fake PayPal account. I fund it with a stolen/compromised debit or credit card. I buy your watch and you post it to me. x days down the line the bank realises and claws back the money. PayPal will try and come after you for the outstanding money. I have your watch. You have no money.
