A crow flew by me this morning.
He was flapping like a bd to maintain an altitude of about two and a half feet.
In his beak wasn't so much a twig as a fairly substantial branch.Obviously nest building.

Now I'm going to be wondering all day how will it manage to get that big bugger up a tree?

He will get to his nest and a bigger Crow will steal his stick. Such is the way with crows.

I have a certain fondness for crows. Not anything illegal mind you.

Very clever birds

A crow is my favourite bird, something of the dinosaur still in it with its big unwieldy feathery wings when it's walking around. And it's call has a certain foreboding about it.

"Caw! Caw!"
[crash]
"Caw, I did warn you!"

I’ve seen this before.

The crow accelerates towards the tree and at the last minute plants the stick in the ground and uses it like a pole vaulter.

Fact.

I often feel sorry for the wild animals when I look out the window at the winds/rain etc - poor little things. Hopefully Mr (or Mrs) Crow was ok in the end. If not I am sure there are enough twigs being blown around for him/her to use to build !

Once a Crow fell down my chimney and ended up flapping about my livingroom. I tried to persuade it out of the window using a towel and shouting "get out " ,evidently i'm no Dr Dolittle because it didn't understand the simple request.

Crows are mental.

I've killed thousands of the buggers but have to admit a sneaking admiration.

My cousin saved one once and ended up teaching it to talk.

I used to let my grandkid hand feed the one next door with monster munch, it loved them.

DO NOT get into a fight with a crow, you will regret it. My mate did, he got into a fight with about 60 of them in an enclosed crow trap. smile

I feel your post is missing a happy, or other, ending...I’m guessing the latter.
