You go back to the Middle Ages - what do you take?

It is a one-way trip so you are not coming back.

You are allowed to take one physical item, and one skill, from the present day.

What do you take?

I suppose being able to defend yourself would be a huge factor in what sort of life you would live so my skill might be Bruce Lee standard fighting skills and my item might be a super high grade Samurai Sword.

The money and wenches would soon be within your grasp.

actually quite interesting question as most things you take would run out assuming we're not allowed unlimited bullets and unlimited charging.

time machine is the best answer.

how about a book that has a detailed history of events so you know whats coming up! skill would be to make explosives and other stuff to amaze people.

or a snipers rifle with full mag and be very selective when using it!

or wind up torch to scare people

Soap. Lots of soap. I understand personal hygiene wasn't a big thing back then.

As for a skill - I'd like to be able to run very fast for a long time, as I would imagine there will be a lot of people wanting to burn me for being a witch or something similar. Either that or the ability to speak Anglo-Saxon or whatever the native language is, as I suspect 21st Century English isn't going to get me very far.

But realistically, a time machine is the most sensible thing as I strongly doubt that anybody nowadays has the skills to survive back then and even if you did, it probably wouldn't be a whole lot of fun.

Probably my 2000 page Physics textbook from York uni, a solar powered electic calculator, a load of paper and pens.

With that I'd be able to make some great advances in science the easy way.
