There's a long running thread elsewhere for major conspriacy theories and room to pontificate.

but what about those of us who have grown up with near instant internet access and 24-hour television schedules?

The biggest conspiracy that I have become aware of is that of the supposed existence of a "Secret Menu" at your favourite fast food restaurant and/or Starbucks. Whereby instead of going and ordering a Big Mac Meal, or anything else on the standard menu, you instead ask for something with a name like a "Dirty Hawaiian Meal" and every single person who works on service at McDonalds will know that you want half a Big Mac but with a Fillet of Fish burger instead of the second beef patty.

It certainly IS the kind of thing that a smaller, independent chain would be able to run, and in fact, definitely have run in the past.

But 30,000+ McDonalds outlets with 200,000+ employees (likewise for the size of Burger King/Starbucks etc) at any one time are not going to be keeping all of this secret, and former employees would definitely have spilled the beans on this kind of thing in the past.

The myth still continues though

Really? is that as good as it gets for Millenials?

No Flying Fortresses doing 'Ghost landings', No 'disappearing Russian-Doll lady filming an assassination with a Cine-Camera', No 'Paul McCartney isn't the original McCartney'?!...

...Just a code word for: Half beef / Half fish burger please. hehe

ETA - I hadn't actually heard of this Myth so I will be looking forward to some others.

Well that and others.

Isn't it the point that us millenials are pretty much known for being ones who don't actually get anything done as good as the older generation? Our conspiracies are no different!

Yes but you haven't got the history to go with it yet - there are loads of WorldWar conspiracies, plenty that I'm still only just hearing about now.

I don't think having the internet or 24hr world wide TV will quash conspiracies, I just think they need a bit of time to gestate.

Isn't there supposedly also a "secret menu" in Maccy Dee's for dogs too, not that I'd feed anything from the golden arches to my pup!!

There is the Mc10:35, a Big Mac with a burger on the bottom and a Sausage and Egg McMuffin on the top half.

Only available after the main menu starts at 10:30 but before they throw out the breakfast stuff.

Do chemtrails pre-date millennials?

Another McDonald's one I heard when in secondary school: 100% British beef was put on their burger boxes not to highlight the fact you were buying a product whose meat components were entirely sourced from cattle of the British Isles but to distract from the 'fact' they were not, and 100% British beef was a company owned by McDonald's whose name was slapped on the boxes for various big, scary corporate reasons.

One from a schoolmate: If you drink tap water too quickly, too often; your insides will implode. Only works with tap water, obviously.

A local one around the same time period: A man who dressed a bit like a rabbi but who wasn't a rabbi (this much was true), would stab you to death if you looked him in the eye.

One that is true is Burger kings “suicide burger”

It’s basically a burger with several patty’s and cheese all in one bun.

Think it cost my mate about a tenner for it.

The americans are in to this trend. A good number of independant or local small chain restaurants will have a number of non-advertised dishes that are classed as "off-menu", but as far as McDonald's goes, if there were such a secret menu, as you already say, all those disgruntled spotty youths that have been fired from the place over time would have got their own back by making it not a secret.

edit to add : I thought all you millenials were partial to a bit of flat-earthing for your conspiracy kicks ? wink

My Brother was a Burger Flipper in McDs for a couple of years when he first left school. Sadly there's no "Secret Menu" for a few clued up Nugget Aficionados or anything like that. Not in the UK anyway.

I think the myth is a combination of a few home-brew things kids used to make mixed with a few things you can special order on the tills that you can't on the self-service machines - technically for example it's possible to remove the burger, ketchup and pickle from a Cheeseburger and be left with a sort of st dry cheese sandwich, but you can't add a Fish filet to a Big Mac to have them make a Gangbang or whatever it's called, but you can order all the parts of it if you really want to.

My eldest was a bit obsessed with the 'Mandela Effect' but if I had to describe it in one word, I'd have to stick with 'irritating'. This has something to do with a film that Shaq was in that did exist and a film with Sinbad (the US Stand-up, not the Greek one, was he Greek?) that didn't.

Would a multi national corporate entity such as Burger King really have a product called a ''suicide burger'' ?
